We're very excited to launch the new Kitemaker! Now even better at releasing you from micro management and the silos of traditional product development tools, supporting you with everything from organizing user feedback to shipping things people want.
Hi ProductHunt ๐
It's been a while since we last launched and Kitemaker has gone through a massive shift during that time. We completely redesigned the app. The roadmaps and initiatives are much more flexible, our todos are as as feature rich as issues in an issue tracker, and you can now organize user feedback and connect insights to your planned features.
Kitemaker is still based on the core idea of helping product development teams perform better. Our goal is to free you from the micro-management and silos of traditional product development tools, focusing on what makes teams excel. That means we're making it easy to share context and discuss, and helping everyone understand the problem they are solving and their users' needs. It's all in a fast, easy-to-use UI making organizing your development work a breeze.
We also have a ton of exciting new things in the pipeline, including all the useful AI features imaginable putting your product development workflow on autopilot. We're also making new integrations, even some for your dreaded issue trackers. So stay tuned for more updates from us!
Please check us out via the link above, and tell us about your experience!
Thank you for supporting our launch!
I absolutely love that you guys are integrating user feedback natively into issues and tasks. I've tried integrations that do a similar thing but they always feel like such a bolt-on.
Congrats @kitemaker team, I'm excited to try this!
P.S. Thanks for giving ToDesktop Builder a shoutout!
@kitemaker@davej Thanks Dave! We think having feedback in the same tool as the team tracks/plans the rest of their work can fundamentally change they way teams work. It's pretty awesome ๐
Hey Sigurd @kitemaker Congrats on the launch! Love the mission of ditching micromanagement that always creeps in with management tools. If I wanted to sell this to my team and convince them easily to use kite maker from what we use today. How would I do it? Do you have a website overview of the difference between kite maker, linear, GitHub, jira, etc? Thanks!
@sentry_co Thank you! And thank you for you feedback! We don't have that page right now, but we probably should make it. The typical reason for teams to chose Kitemaker over the ones you have listed is to get everything in one place to remove the silos, get everyone on the team to see the user feedback (seeing directly who asked for what in the work items are powerful), and the general idea that product teams are about collaborating on innovation and not less about only tracking tasks/issues.
I'd be happy to discuss this further with you, and will happily do demos with you or your team to explain the differences in more detail :)
@kitemaker For sure! I think a comparison table would be gold! That way we could identify areas that would fit how we work, or even how we could work better etc. And calls with you is always a pleasure! You're on my radar for this, so when we upgrade I will make an assessment if we go with linear or something like kite maker. Ill ping you in the not to distant future ๐
Congratulations! This looks interesting tho. The redesigned app sounds promising, especially with its enhanced flexibility and feature-rich todos. Can I ask how does Kitemaker ensure smooth integration with existing workflows and tools used by product development teams?
@yasec_kowalski Thanks! We've got some really great, deep integrations to most of the tools your product team probably already uses like GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Discord, Figma and more. It makes it easy to connect discussions and activities in all of those tools to Kitemaker.
In terms of workflow, Kitemaker does a better job of representing your team's ACTUAL workflow than any other product development tool. It won't feel like you need to fight the tool - instead it'll feel like you have a tool that actually models your workflow and focuses on what you're shipping to your customers (instead of being obsessed with little micro tasks).
We have importers and an API to bring your data in from whatever issue tracker or feedback tool you're using today, though many teams prefer to start cleanly.
@yasec_kowalski We try to make Kitemaker the central hub of everything going on in the team. So we try to integrate with as many tools as makes sense. The idea is that anyone can go to Kitemaker and see the relevant information of what is going on regardless if that happens in Slack, Figma, or some other tool. There are plenty of more tools that we plan to integrate to, so we are always happy to hear about what people are using to help us prioritize them.
Kitemaker is more opinionated in regards of collaboration and communication. So I think you can support more or less any workflow in Kitemaker (we have people using anything from Shape Up to very custom workflows). Our observation is that great teams changes their workflow as the needs change, but the need to collaborate across product, design, and engineering stays constant, so we designed Kitemaker around that idea :)
Hope that answered your question. Happy to clarify if there is anything else you want to know about :)
@kitemaker Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation! I appreciate your insight into the platform's design philosophy. If I have any further questions, I'll be sure to reach out. Thanks again for your response!
@ksimons That sounds fantastic! Having deep integrations with tools like GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Discord, and Figma is a dope for streamlining team collaboration. Thanks for sharing these insights ๐๐ป
I used Kitemaker at my previous startup and it was better than any issue tracker Iโve tried at getting the whole team involved in the product development process and keeping them in the same page.
The addition of feedback looks interesting. How do I get feedback into Kitemaker?
@videlov Thank you for the support, Kiril! There are various ways of getting feedback into Kitemaker. You can simple type them using our document editor, if you get feedback by email you can just forward that to Kitemaker, you can use our Slack, Discord, or Intercom integrations (more coming soon), and you can also use Zapier or our APIs to get them into Kitemaker:)
Sometimes simple copy/paste does the job as well :)
Hi Sigurd,
Congratulations on the massive shift and redesign of Kitemaker! It sounds like you've really honed in on streamlining the product development process. The focus on context sharing and problem-solving is crucial for efficient teamwork. I'm particularly intrigued by the upcoming AI features and integrations. How do you envision AI enhancing the product development workflow further?
Wishing you and the team much success with this launch and beyond!
@alex_dulub Thank you, Alex! Yeah, we are already seeing that AI helps product development a lot. That can be anything from converting comments or feedback to tasks, finding similar user feedback or work items, connection user feedback to the correct work items, processing feedback, creating work item from feedback and much more.
We don't see that we're automating everything in the short term unless there is another big leap in AI, technology, but there is definitely a lot already that can significantly reduce the amount of time required to manage and organize things.
Congrats on the launch! I can see many use cases of this product across all sizes of companies.
I wondered if the team is planning on building out new integrations or what the integration initiative overall looks like at the moment!
@keremkocer Thank you! ๐
We currently have integrations to Slack, Discord, Github, Gitlab, Figma, Intercom, Zapier, Vanta, and probably more I don't remember. We are usually building the integrations when there is a need, so we have a Sentry integration coming up (awaiting approval) and several other tools for collecting user feedback. So stay tunes :)
Congrats @kitemaker
Amazing product, we have been using it from last 2 years.. without the doubt, the most easiest product management tool. One of the best team delivering regular and awesome update. Highly recommend.
Amazing product, indeed! @kitemaker Kitemaker revolutionizes product development, freeing teams from micromanagement and silos. From organizing user feedback to shipping desired features, it promises more impact and less hassle. Can't wait to see how it transforms workflows!
