Kapsule (short for time capsule) is a future messaging app that allows users to record and share video messages with anyone in the future. Not in hours, days, or weeks - but in months, years, or even decades.
This is cool! Going to share with my dad who's been asking for a tool like this to leave messages for his grandkids that they can see when they grow up.
That's a perfect use case @brian_ficho. I've recorded dozens of videos for my son - including one with him wishing himself a future happy birthday.
He said I created a "happy birthday time machine app" for him. 🤣 (he's not wrong)
👋Hi Product Hunt community! Kevin here, Founder & CEO of Kapsule.
After countless hours of solo learning, designing, coding, testing, and repeating…. ♻️
🥳 I'm excited to announce that Kapsule has launched on the Apple App Store & Google Play Store. 🚀
A special thank to @bramk for hunting Kapsule. 🙏
What is Kapsule?
Kapsule (short for time capsule) is a social media app that allows users to record and share video messages with anyone in the future.
How does it work?
Video messages (called Kapsules) are uploaded and preserved securely in the cloud and delivered to their recipients months, years, or even decades in the future. Kapsule is the first app designed to outlive its creators and connect the world: past, present, and future.
Why did I build this?
I originally built Kapsule for my son Ryan, as a way to communicate with him in the future - even if I wasn’t alive to deliver the messages myself. But what started out as a labor of love quickly grew into what you see today in less than 💯 days. Every line of code, every pixel was created by me for him.
Ryan, one day you’ll be reading this. Just know that I love you and that I did all of this for you. My only wish is that I made you proud of me. I love you buddy.
I’d love to hear what you think
Your feedback will help shape the future of Kapsule. If you had a moment to explore the app and leave some feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. 🙏

@bramk@kevin_o_connell5 this is wonderful. When I was designing out my ideal story sharing platform this feature was an important part. The ability to leave yourself messages, the stories you can’t share till after you pass, the stories you just need to get off your chest and share before you forget like a gratitude journal, early onset Alzheimer’s families.
I’d love to hear more about your plans
Thank you for sharing that @jane_ss. Similar to a gratitude journal, one of the ideas we're floating around is a campaign called "12 months of gratitude".
Where on the 12th day of each month, (for 12 months), you record a time Kapsule to yourself expressing gratitude. As a way to get into the habit of expressing gratitude.
@kevin_o_connell5 what a wonderful idea. Actually I celebrated a birthday yesterday and your comment made me recall a couple who send each others on the 25th of each month as that was the date they got married… they have been doing it for ten years.
I do a Vision onboarding intuitive process with my mentoring clients, I’d love for them (and me) to send themselves a message in 12 mths, and every year after of the vision they hold for their entrepreneurial plans and personal happy.
Yeah, that's another great example @jane_ss. Feel free to try out the app and see if it's right for you or your clients. Kapsule is free and secure. I'm just looking for feedback right now.
I really love this. I hope many parents use it, because I’m sure it will mean so much to their children when they leave earth. I’m speaking as someone who lost my mom and wish she had done something like this, for me, but I know she loved me and I will forever keep that love in my heart. When I become a parent, I will ensure to do this for my children.
💯% @kelly_kwawu.
I have a couple of Kapsules scheduled to be sent 3 months after my last login date. Given I'm the creator of Kapsule and login nearly everyday, the only reason I wouldn't login is if I passed away. When that happens (which is enviable), I'll know that my loved ones will get to hear from me one last time.
Feel free to tell friends and family about Kapsule. They may thank you for it. 🙏
