Jotdown is making it easier and more fun to share your thoughts. Find, join & chat within topic/interest based channels (group chats), or broadcast your thoughts to your personal channel.
Any reason you would launch a product on ProductHunt and have only a blank "contact us" page with an email address?
Seems contradictory to PH community principles, where we discover available products, or we see some mockups for a coming beta.
this is what I see on your site right now:
@picsoung Hey Nicolas, sorry for the confusion. Here's the link to our app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...?. I should have put that as our official website, as we don't actually have a web product (just an iOS app). Sorry again!
@picsoung@zachbatteer Thanks for the itunes link. The getjotdown.com page is perhaps just a little bit too minimalist? An app store button there might be a good idea.
@picsoung@zachbatteer@frassmith +1 on that. Please add a app download button on the website. Open the site to see it to be blank and came back to Product Hunt to get the app link.
I've been playing with this for a almost a few months (I'm rrhoover in the app). Similar to @bjnovak, @devwastaken and co's new app, Kiyo, Jotdown doesn't have public followers, likes, and other vanity metrics that can influence promotional/competitive behaviors. It feels more like a public diary.
@zachbatteer you recently added channels. What's next?
@rrhoover Hey! After building private channels with friends, we’ve quickly realized that we need to allow for the option to have them be public and discoverable. We _think_ there could be something in connecting people over a particular shared interest or topic, but also realize that in order to maintain a high quality, you’d have to create a system that incentives good behavior and drives out the trolls. So, that’s something that we’ve been thinking long and hard about trying to solve :)
Hi PH !
Zach from Jotdown here. The initial idea for Jotdown came from us noticing that more and more of our friends were moving away from broadcasting our thoughts to Twitter / Facebook, and were instead moving more towards private groups. We think there’s an opportunity to a) make sharing your thoughts more fun and b) to help you connect with people online via interest & topic based channels (group chats). Jotdown is made up of two big features:
1. Group channels. Think “Slack, but for social”, where you can be invited to, create, and discover all types of topic and interest based channels (group chats).
2. Personal channel / friends channels. Think Twitter with Instagram/Snapchat stories. Any thought you share here disappears after 24 hours, and (for now) there are no public comments or likes, only DMs.
The current version of the app is very unpolished, & doesn’t include critical features like global channels (those that anyone can search / discover), friend-only channels (channel where friends & contacts can discover and join the group), mentions & full permission settings, but we wanted to get this out as fast as possible to get some feedback.
If you’re on mobile & iOS, you can click the “Get it” link & go through the sign up flow to join a #Product Hunt channel that we’ve created! (If that somehow screws up, here’s the link https://jotdown.app.link/zzVvjINtDJ) Also: follow me @zachbatteer :)
I’ll be around all day to answer your guys questions!

I really enjoy using this product, not only can I say what's on my mind, but I am not afraid to speak out- unlike Twitter.
Pros:Non-judgemental atmosphere where you can say what you want
Cons:Not enough of my friends use it!

Pros:Great way to share thoughts in a private forum
