Hi everyone! I’m the maker of Jinear. I originally built it as a side project to manage tasks for myself, my wife’s PhD planning, and a friend’s small business. Over time, it grew into something more complete. I didn’t get traction as a product, so I decided to open source it for others to self-host freely. If you have questions, feedback, or ideas, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for checking it out! Here's the repo https://gitlab.com/140crafts/use... I currently self-host my own Jinear instance on a Mac Mini at home. Also using jinear's custom domain support for pages to host my personal website (https://cagdastunca.com) and jinear product updates (https://forum.jinear.co). I'm keeping registration open on my jinear instance(https://jinear.co) for demo purposes.

@cagdas_tunca How does Jinear handle task data storage and privacy for users running self-hosted versions?

Çağdaş Tunca

@masump Hi, all data is stored entirely on your own server. Jinear doesn't rely on any external storage or third-party services so you have full ownership and control over your data. Nothing leaves your environment.

@cagdas_tunca really cool project and love that you open-sourced it! Curious—beyond the calendar feature, how does Jinear differentiate itself from tools like Notion or Motion? Would love to hear what makes it unique!

Love the blend of project management and calendar in a privacy-friendly, self-hostable package.

@supa_l Thanks. I hope it helps people seeking this kind of solution

Right now, I feel the easiest task management is just my notebook—nothing fancy. I write down my tasks in the morning and glance at them again at the end of the day

love the idea of open sourcing this!

"my wife’s PhD planning" - can you share this story?

Çağdaş Tunca

@admiralrohan Actually there’s not a lot talk about. She used Jinear to create tasks in the calendar for her reading schedule, attached papers or articles to those tasks, and relied on reminders to stay on track. It helped her organize her workload day by day.

@cagdas_tunca What was the problem with existing apps?

Jinear sounds like a fantastic tool, especially for those who value privacy and prefer self-hosting. The fact that it started as a personal project but grew into an open-source, customizable productivity solution is impressive. Are there plans to add any collaboration features for teams, like shared calendars or task assignments?

Çağdaş Tunca

@evgenii_zaitsev1 These stuff already exists. Add someone to your workspace and you can assign tasks, share calendars etc.

Nice UI. But it seems like a bit overwhelming at first bird's-eye view. Try to make it more simpleler

Great to see open-source solutions like Jinear enhancing productivity! If you're considering expanding its capabilities or integrating with no-code platforms, I'd be glad to collaborate. At Prime Dev, we focus on building efficient, no-code solutions tailored to user needs.

This tool can be the backbone of the first fully autonomous company! The AI CEO can use it to interact with all the agents.
