I'm Martin – building language learning apps
Hey Product Hunters!
My name is Martin. I've idled here a while, but I want to be more active, so hello folks! 👋
I'm from Manchester, UK, but for the past 2 years I've been following the indie hacker journey while traveling in Asia. I'm more of a "slowmad" – I like to live in the same city for at least 6 months. That's been Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Da Nang and now Ko Pha-ngan.
I love language – I think it's deeply important and mind-blowing. People who speak many languages impress me so much. I wish I spoke more, but among the ones I speak, is even an invented one (yep – Esperanto – saluton al iu ajn alia ĉi tie, kiu eble ankaŭ (aŭ plej verŝajne tute ne) parolas ĝin).
For 2 years I build Yakk – digital language-learning books packed with app-like experiences. I made some revenue, but 6 months ago I pivoted into a bigger idea that was more scalable and could help more people.
I'm now building LangSesh, a tool that creates on-the-fly language learning exercises. I'm moving toward a more course-based, structured approach right now. I'm making some early revenue with this product too, which is awesome, but nothing to write home about just yet.
That's me! Looking forward to making some new friends here.
If you're in Southeast Asia, let me know. Maybe we'll be close enough to grab coffee sometime.
