Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Mat - New to product hunt and excited to be a part of the community.
Hey everyone 👋
I'm Mat, founder of SecureAlias.
I come from an enterprise security background — helping businesses stay safe from breaches, scams, and spam.
But what I kept seeing again and again... was how individuals were left exposed.
Everywhere we go online, we're asked for our real email — and it’s become a single point of failure for tracking, targeting, and hacks.
I built SecureAlias because I wanted an easy, powerful way for normal people (not just techies) to protect their inbox, their identity, and their sanity.
Big companies have entire teams protecting their emails.
Why shouldn't you have a shield too?
Anyway — I'm super excited (and a bit nervous) to launch here on Product Hunt. 🚀
If you have any questions about email privacy, spam prevention, or cybersecurity in general, I'd love to chat. 🙌
Also happy to nerd out about anything security, SaaS building, or early-stage launch lessons.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Stay safe out there. 🔒

Hey Mat 👋
I think security is something a lot of people don't think about until it's too late or they actually run into an issue. I saw this a lot when I used to work in IT back in the day. So super cool that you're looking to provide a way for regular people to have some protection.
I'm curious, what are some of the biggest mistakes that people make in terms of security? Or maybe what are some of the things that people overlook most often?
Also, slightly different topic, but I'm curious if you have any thoughts on the rise of vibe coding and what that means for security. I know I've seen a lot of people discussing how a lot of vibe coded apps don't have the best security measures.
Hi@jakecrump ,
Thanks for the kind words and nice to meet you. You hit it pretty squarely in that people generally don't think about it, my main objective is to make it all much more accessible to people. But lets face it, Security isn't sexy - you only want it after you need it. I think the biggest thing you see from the general user is password reuse. The Michael Mcintyre sketch where he talks about that password we all came up with in primary school. It's shocking to think about how much that's re-used over and over again.
Regarding Vibe coding, or really anything in the realms of AI - you have to understand what it's doing under the hood. You hear a lot about how it's a bunch of slop code, and to some extent that's true. I think if you're building the systems around it to protect against vulnerabilities, like your Web Application Firewalls, and those kinds of things. You're using the Context7 MCP, and most up to date versions of software, and then asking the right questions of the AI Model - Like is this OWASP Top10 Secure? What are some potential attack vectors for this app that we need to protect against. You can make a generally pretty good run at it.
But to reiterate the point, anything written by AI needs to be validated by a human, so as far as vibe coding goes as an accelerator, it's incredible - but just make sure you enjoy reading code, it's the only way you can keep up.
Thanks
Mat C
