From PE-backed SaaS CFO to Founder: Why I Declared War on Sales Commissions and Built Siplify
Hey Product Hunt community!
I'm Matt, and I'm a PE-backed SaaS CFO turned war-wager against the chaos of sales commissions.
For nearly 15 years, I lived and breathed building and administering commission plans in the trenches of corporate finance. And frankly, after all that time, I finally said "enough is enough" and built Siplify.
My journey into entrepreneurship wasn't some grand, abstract vision. It was born from pure, unadulterated frustration. I watched firsthand as sales leaders, RevOps pros, and finance managers spent precious days (and nights) wrestling with:
Overly complex plans that confuse sales teams and hinder performance.
Endless spreadsheet headaches that are one formula away from disaster.
"Black box" calculations that erode trust and lead to costly errors.
I'm a sucker for a challenge, and I suppose that's precisely what attracted me to the suck that is sales commissions in the first place. But after 15 years of living in it, I decided to build the solution I always wished I had.
Siplify is about bringing discipline and simplicity to sales incentive planning. It's not about automating bad processes or adding more complexity. It's about:
A robust calculation engine.
Crystal-clear statements.
A framework that forces simple, effective plan designs.
Think flat file to accurate commission statements and plan documents in minutes, not months.
Speaking of months, I just wrapped some amazing test sessions and believe the Siplify beta is ready for launch! Truth is I've been testing and building for 9 months now, but enough is enough and I'd rather build features based on your feedback than keep tinkering by myself.
So, here's my challenge to this community: If you or someone you know likes to break things (bonus if you share a profound disdain for sales commissions) I want to hear from you.
I'm offering early access to the Siplify beta. Run wild, try to smash my work to pieces, and help me refine this tool that's going to make commissions suck less for everyone involved. And yes, it's at no cost to you - just hit me up and let me know you're interested and I'll set you up. There's a free trial via self serve onboarding which requires a CC, so if you want to avoid that let's talk!
I'm genuinely excited to be part of this community and share more of my journey. Ask me anything about finance, analytics, sales comp, or the joys (and pains!) of building a startup.
Cheers,
Matt Brattin
Founder, Siplify
