@sidrock28 The project is totally open source. Hiding malicious code in plain sight would be some pretty ace-level scamming, although I suppose it's theoretically possible. In my experience sketchy things look sketchy.
Missing a couple things here and there functionality-wise relative to VLC, but IINA a beautiful video player which, if nothing else, is a bit cleaner and easier to use than VLC.
Is the name "IINA" supposed to be read as "tuna" ? #2much2na
Looks good - will definitely try it out. My biggest peeve when I made the switch from windows to mac was that I couldn't use KMPlayer anymore! Easily the best media player on windows.
One of the best features was the ability to create 'bookmarks' wherever you are up to in the video and then resume without having to open the file but simply open KMPlayer and click on the bookmark you save. Once a media player has that on mac (hopefully there's one out there already that I don't know of!) I'll be switching from VLC!
@itsharisq VLC as well as MPlayerX both already do this automatically. So if you close a video file half way through, then open the same file a few days later it will resume where you left off.
Isn't this what you want?
Edit: nevermind, read your comment wrong.
I did keep my eye on it and it has been my go-to video player for most of the year since it was hunted. Recently I've started to use it for music playback too.
Great find!
I've thought for a while VLC seemed a bit outdated for the modern platform, and this instantly looks like a worthy long term replacement.
The design is great and it really suits macOS.
Going to definitely be testing immensely as I always watch videos of all formats on my Mac. I've always been looking for a modern solution for an all media type player but haven't found a capable one yet. Let's see if this pulls me away from VLC and Mplayer OSX Extended.
From initial usage, I can say that it's very fast, love the UI and how clean it is. My only gripe so far is the way my scrubbing works with my trackpad. When I two finger drag left...it moves the video forward and vice-versa. This motion is very weird to me and would like some way to switch that so when I swipe to the right, it moves the video forwards and not backward.
