Hey Product Hunt 👋

I’m John, co-founder of Hyprnote.

We built Hyprnote after hearing the same thing over and over: “We can’t use Otter or Granola - IT won’t allow it.” Teams in law, finance, and healthcare were stuck taking manual notes because existing AI tools streamed everything to the cloud.

So we built a notepad that works offline. Hyprnote transcribes and summarizes your meetings locally, using on-device models. It listens to both mic and speaker, no bots needed, and generates clean summaries based on your notes.

Unlike other tools, nothing leaves your computer. It’s open-source, privacy-first, and made for environments where compliance matters.

We’re offering a 70% discount for the first month of our Pro plan for Product Hunt users.

Would love your feedback. You can download it at hyprnote.com or check out our GitHub.

Thanks for taking a look.

Launching soon!

@johnjeong Congrats on launching! Love that it solves the real problem of 'IT won't allow cloud-based tools' - the local processing approach is a game changer for secure environments.

@johnjeong  @kay_arkain exactly! that's the kind of problem we want to solve. a lot of our current users are people who were looking for a granola alternative that won't get banned from the IT department

Harvey Nguyen

@johnjeong Hey John, Hyprnote sounds like a game-changer for teams facing IT restrictions on AI tools. The focus on privacy and offline functionality is definitely a unique selling point in industries where compliance is crucial. Offering a discount to Product Hunt users is a great way to introduce your product. I hope the community will find value in what Hyprnote has to offer! Best of luck with the launch!

John Jeong

@harveynguyen Harvey! Thanks for complimenting Hyprnote — we hope you try it and give us some great feedback!

Bahram Ahmedzade

@johnjeong Good stuff, honestly. We are embarrassed with strict regulations here in EU. Very useful

John Jeong

@bahram_ahmedzade it seems like it has made people very cautious about data privacy, which is a good thing IMO!

Bahram Ahmedzade

@johnjeong generally maybe yes :) but when we get all these warning pop ups every time it can become annoying very quick.

Maklyen May

@johnjeong Impressive work, team! Hyprnote solves a real pain point—using AI tools in meetings without sending sensitive data to the cloud.

John Jeong

@maklyen_may it does! and many people have been anticipating for such tool :) thanks for recognizing the value!

Cassidy Dalva

@johnjeong Congrats on the launch, the privacy angle here is awesome!

John Jeong

@cassidy_dalva thanks! we believe that we shouldn't compromise privacy for productivity!

  1. Which AI Model does this use?

  2. Can I use this in windows through WSL2?

Yujong Lee

@admiralrohan Currently Mac only. We will support Windows in upcoming weeks.

We have llama, qwen, Gemma etc including Ollama(through custom endpoint)

For STT, Whisper models + Nvidia Parakeet

Artem Sapozhnikov

Hyprnote sounds like a game-changer for secure workflows. On-device AI + instant summaries = productivity without compromise. Love the privacy-first approach!

John Jeong

@adsapozhnikov we'll get that righteous privacy back for you!

Furqan Ali

I like the fact that my data is stored on my machine not on third party cloud.

@furqan_ali4 thanks! that's exactly what we had in mind when building the product. We realized that not everyone might care about privacy, but there definitely is a substantial number of people who do, and we want to help that group of people upgrade their meeting experience :)

Luigi Pederzani

Congrats on the launch @johnjeong @yujong_lee

This year YC is crushing it!

Does Hyprnote also send follow-up emails after the meeting?

Yujong Lee

@johnjeong  @pederzh

Thank you!

We do have some basic support for sharing notes with email, but not follow-up email yet. You can craft one using chat in the right-side panel though.

Hyprnote, a 5.0-rated AI notepad for private meetings, stands out with its on-device focus. It handles notes, transcription, and summarization locally—no cloud reliance, making it a solid fit for secure environments. A strong privacy-centric tool for professionals.

Nika

How does this differ from Notion notes that are done during video calls?

John Jeong

@busmark_w_nika The user experience is really not that different — except that we're even simpler. However, the real beauty is that we're processing and storing all the data locally — meaning nothing leaves your computer.

Chia-Lun Wu

It just works. Love the design and the team!

John Jeong

@leowuhera This means a lot coming from the almighty Hera founders! Hoping to make Hyprnote better and better!

Santosh Kumar

Would be interesting to benchmark performance on different hardware setups.

Yujong Lee

@santosh__kumar9 yeah we will do! what machine do you use?

John Jeong

@santosh__kumar9 that's a good idea!

Ash Grover
Launching soon!

I really like the offline angle here, especially when meetings have lot of confidential information in it. I think we will see more privacy-focused AI products in the future as we move into second phase of specialized products directed at non-tech corporate sector.

Awesome work folks and congrats on the launch!

@ash_grover thanks! that's exactly what we've been thinking as well. In fact, we even published an article on our blog about it: <The Rise of Local AI: How the Next Wave of Privacy Tools Will Be Built > https://hyprnote.com/blog/local-ai-privacy-tools

Hammad Ahmed Khan

Great team, awesome product.

Good luck guys!

John Jeong

@mad_tech woohoo! Hammad thank you!

Sawradip Saha

@johnjeong Fully agree with your intro comment. Several products were there, in this space. But the fully on device part, I haven't seen tried before. Its gonna be very useful.

John Jeong

@sawradip_saha thanks! we offer a generous free tier so stick around and keep trying it out!

Doga

Really awesome app, well done team

Launching soon!

I’d really love to try it on Windows! Will there be a release?

John Jeong

@johannagoulart probably in late-august! thanks for being so eager! you can sign up on our website hyprnote.com

Running completely on-device with no privacy concerns sounds amazing. Congratulations on the launch!

John Jeong

@bigmacfive Thanks! Would love to hear your feedback :)

Nicole Astor
Launching soon!

I saw your video and it’s very impressive. I think it could be really useful for user interviews. It’s simple, everything is local, and super convenient. My environment might not have the same compliance requirements, but I’d still love to give it a try. @Hyprnote

John Jeong

@nicoleastor Yes yes yes! Please do give it a try and give us some feedback — we're craving for them :) Thank you for the kind words too.

Cruise Chen

how accurate is it for different industry and verticals? Is it able to have personal wiki embedded in future?

John Jeong

@cruise_chen We're pumping up the accuracy for general use cases, but definitely have fine-tuning for specific industry or roles on our mind. We've already post-trained our own LLM and think it is doable! Also, a wiki would definitely be something that Hyprnote could evolve to in the future. In the meantime, we're focusing on making the most private and accurate notepad(and taker) in the world!

Bhavya Arora

Hyprnote turns your laptop into a private AI meeting assistant transcripts and summaries made locally, no cloud, no worries

@bhavyaaurora on point!

we also do offer cloud options as well, but the idea is that you should be able to have freedom/extensibility in terms of selecting what kind of AI you want to use when you are treating sensitive meeting information :)

Himanshu Kalra

Hey team — the proposition looks quite promising. Curious — does on-device AI slow down the machine?

@hkalra16Great question! To be honest, it can slow things down if you’re on an older computer, your meeting runs really long (over 2 hours), or you forget to stop recording and it keeps listening for many hours. Outside of those cases, though, it usually won’t cause a noticeable performance drop.

Dailen
Look forward to seeing this on Windows 😊
John Jeong

@dailen Thanks :) Expecting to roll out late August! Hope you can wait until then 🥺
