Congratulations on the launch folks. Why does the GPS stay on after the app is installed and I don't move. I left it open for more then twenty mins and the GPS is still on. Pretty close to deleting it. Am I missing something?
Renato Valdés Olmos
@arjunram Hey Arjun - thanks! The location icon on iOS means apps can access your location - however, it doesn't mean that we're using location services at all times. In fact, iOS uses various methods to detect your location prior to accessing GPS. At Human, we can't stress data ownership enough. We analyze your data to categorize your activity and provide you with real-time stats. Anonymized, aggregated data leads to improve Human as a whole: It helps us optimize our activity detection and measure the overall performance of the app. We might use aggregated stats, which can not be be tied to individual users, to help you compare yourself to others. And we don't share any of your personal identifiable data without your explicit consent. So if you concern is privacy related, this blogpost addresses everything in more detail: http://blog.human.co/posts/human... or have a look at our FAQ on http://human.co/faq If your concern is battery consumption related, this screenshot shows you usage of Human on my personal device (and I think it goes without saying that I'm heavy user of our own app): https://twitter.com/renn/status/...

We've pushed out a major update to the App Store. Human now estimate how much Calories you burn with daily activity. Unlike most step counters, we don't just track walking and running, but also include calories burnt with cycling and indoor activities. We use the motion sensors of your phone to measure the intensity of your indoor activity. Human works on any iPhone with iOS7+, also devices without the M7 or M8 chip. Human is currently featured in the App Store and is one of the first apps with iOS Health sync. We sync your past 7 days of activity data to Health on iOS 8.0.2. We write Active Calories, Distance Walking + Running, Distance Cycling and individual workouts (not visible in the Health app) to HealthKit. We use your weight to calculate Calories burned. Let me know if you got any questions about our product or HealthKit.

@pveugen Nice work on the app...looks gorgeous! I noticed you don't have an app preview in the store yet. Are you working on one? If you haven't settled on a toolset for creating one yet, we'd love to have you try out TechSmith AppShow (free in open beta): http://appshow.techsmith.com

@fosteronomo Would love to try that out. Just signed up for the beta. We just didn't have time yet to create the video. Hope to add it with one of the upcoming releases. We pushed pretty hard to get our Health sync and Today extension ready. And got some nice updates in the pipeline already.

@pveugen @ramykhuffash Thanks for trying out AppShow! Any thoughts on your experience so far?
Ramy
@fosteronomo I've only had a brief try with it so far, but will be using it for a new video in the next few days. Can I have your email so I can contact you if I have feedback?
Renato Valdés Olmos
What Paul said. Hope you guys enjoy the app!

@renn nice job Renato and Paul!!

Here's a writeup on everything new in the app: http://blog.human.co/posts/human...

I'm using Moves for this right now. How do you compare?
Renato Valdés Olmos
@brackin Great question, Andrew. Technology-wise, Human and Moves are very similar. Both are passive trackers. Human tends to focus more on behavioral change (making you move more), and less on keeping a diary of your whole day (locations, checkins, etc). You could even say we opted to show you a little as possible (though you can definitely dive deeper). This is working for a lot of folks, but we're still figuring out a lot ourselves. Hope that answers your question!

This is a hard thing for me, remembering to do something more often. Other than walking the dog a couple of times during the work day, the rest of it is pretty passive. And then at the end of the day I think "I should have done X, during lunch/twice today". Having random prompts during the day "Time to do 20 squats" is sorta my use case, so at least I don't do 10 hours mostly at my chair. Played with a number of apps, both reminder and exercise, and need one that plays with both.

@SacBookReviewer Good point. I like to compare a good fitness app to a partner or your spouse: there's this thin line between being persuasive and motivating in a subtle way, and being annoying and too pushy. We're trying to find out what works best. Be sure to check out our Today widget too, which is another small experiment to quietly nudge you.

My Human push notifications are among the few notifications I like to receive everyday. In the new version can I specify that I want a calorie count push notification? Can I schedule them before I eat lunch and dinner?
Renato Valdés Olmos
@kattya that's actually a great suggestion. Right now, we only send push notifications on 30, 60 and 90 minutes of activity. And having smarter push notifications in Human is something I'd definitely want for myself as well!

Human is one of the prettiest apps I've got on my phone, and makes me obsess about how much exercise I'm getting every day. I'm stoked to see the health integration too as time goes on, should prove even stickier than it was before for me. Great job fellas, ps nice seeing you on the front page of the app store this morning.
Juan Buis
Great app by fellow Dutchies @pveugen and @renn. Great job on the design, and the HealthKit integration is working really well - nice USP seeing as it's one of the very few apps offering it.
Danny Lowney
Great job guys! Interface looks wicked
