I see Petit Biscuit in the gallery. Nice choice, @vincelwt. He recently came to SF but I couldn't make it. 😞
Vince Loewe
@rrhoover Thanks! He is indeed very good on live πŸ˜‰ you should try again next time he comes

I need Apple Music, then I am sold. :)
Vince Loewe
@joshdance That could be done ;) they seem to have an good enough API
Jasper van der Meij
Cool idea. Sonos integration / spotify connect is probably are tough feature request? :)
Vince Loewe
@jvdmeij Thanks! At the moment I would say almost impossible for Spotify Connect, but maybe a Sonos integration could be made via a plugin, maybe using this API ? https://github.com/jishi/node-so... That would be complicated for me as I don't have any Sonos system πŸ˜•

Would love Bandcamp support!

Spotify + SoundCloud is a dream match. Also, no browser for SoundCloud is game changer for me. Only thing missing is a Winamp skin tho.
Vince Loewe
@gflandre Happy that you like it :) A Winamp skin is possible (and easy to do) with the the theme engine!

I was pretty excited about this, but it's clear that it still needs a lot of refining. When I added my Spotify library, it grabbed a couple as "null" had a sync error, and didn't bring in any of my folders. Plus, it has to resync everything which is a big hassle. I suggest you take a look at some academic papers on optimizing the sync process by intelligently determining what needs to be deleted, updated, etc. Going in the right direction though!
Vince Loewe
@andrewfturnerjr Thanks for the remarks, it's true the sync needs improving. I hope to rewrite some of it for the next major release. About your bug of playlists not showing up, could you open an issue with more details here: https://github.com/vincelwt/harm... Thanks!
Dun
You mean iTunes player for Spotify?
Vince Loewe
@huangdun Different than iTunes πŸ˜‰
Leandro
Why have I only just discovered this?! Just installed it for Windows. Lightweight, setup was a breeze and works really well. Great job, love it! This on iPhone would kill it, especially for listening to my several YouTube playlists.
Vince Loewe
@leandrobthomas Haha thanks :P

Hey, I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I was using Cumulus (featured here I believe) until it was shut down by Soundcloud. I just installed Harmony and it seems dope, I still can't believe I can access to all my spotify/soundcloud/youtube stuff in this so yeah, great job and I'll probably buy a lifetime licence. One question though, what happens if all the api integration that made it worth buying disappear one day ? Would you consider a refund ?
Vince Loewe
@tgerin Hey Thibaut! First of all thanks :) Harmony serve the API keys server-side so in case of problem I can update the keys to working ones while I work a fix. To answer your question, yes I would of course make refunds in case of events like this.

How do you deal with the Soundcloud API rate limiting? https://developers.soundcloud.co... Or the Spotify rate limiting? https://developer.spotify.com/we... Be aware that at one point in time your app could break due to rate limiting.
Michiel De Mey
Also, watch out for terms violations, since you are now monetizing your app! The TOU of Spotify for example does not allow commercial use of their streaming content without written permission. https://developer.spotify.com/de... (2. Commercial Use Restrictions) The best way to move forward is to get permission from the API platforms, that way your paying customers are certain that the API integration is approved and will stay in the app.

Been looking for something better for SoundCloud/Youtube so I can use media controls. Looks like I found it. Thanks!
Vince Loewe
@brockazure Nice thanks :)

Perfect app for my Soundcloud playlist πŸ‘Œ
Vince Loewe
Hi again Product Hunt! πŸŽ‰ Harmony is a simple music player allowing you to play music from your different services (SoundCloud, Spotify, Google Play Music, Deezer, The Hype Machine, YouTube, Reddit & your local files) in the same app. I built it being tired of having my music in different places and because of the lack of minimal desktop players for these services. Harmony has come a long way since it first appeared on Product Hunt last year. Here are the most important changes: - Harmony isn't open-source anymore: it's now on a license model similar to Sublime Text - New plugins: YouTube, Reddit, Deezer & Hype Machine 🎢 - New built-in themes: Dark, Arc & Vibrancy (on Mac OS) - You can add/remove tracks from playlists (playlist creation coming soon) - Third-parties themes & plugins are now possible πŸš€ - Replaced Coverflow by a simpler coverview - Ability to pin app to the menubar, or show controls only - Global search: you can now search the cloud ☁️ - Far better usability (on Mac OS especially) - Faster & improved responsiveness - A lot of bugs fixed For future versions, my focus will be on improving the UX and the plugin system. Also, would you like to be able to see/modify the playing queue ? That’s something a lot of players do but I’m not sure if it would be really necessary and would bloat the UI. If you enjoy Harmony & would like to buy a license to support the development (and remove the pop-up), I'll be offering until 20/08 a discounted price of $29 instead of $39 for a lifetime license with this link: https://getharmony.xyz/buy?coupo... As a side note, I'm well aware of the current break of YouTube's ToS by not showing the video when playing its audio, and to not end up like Streamus ☠, fixing this is on my todo list! Looking forward to your feedback! πŸ˜ƒ Vincent.
Vince Loewe
@gopietz Happy that you like it!
Anthony V
@vincelwt can you remove hype machine from the list of supported services? thanks
Anthony V
@vincelwt to clarify, while i appreciate that you were thinking of us while making this app, there isn't much value for us to have this running, nor for the user who listens to the tracks with the context entirely removed. the stuff we do is more than just a playlist. A good way to listen via an OS X app is with Plug: https://www.producthunt.com/post...
Vince Loewe
@fascinated Interesting request, could you elaborate more on the stuff that would be needed to make this working ?
Anthony V
@vincelwt in an ideal world we'd have the resources to support a richer set of API + work with you, and you'd build additional functionality that provides more context around what you are playing (for ex. which blogs posted it), and surface additional hype machine features. and then a lot of people would use this. today though, we are a team of 3 (me being the sole technical lead) running a patreon-style campaign to continue building the service, so we can't support these sorts of projects. on your end, my impression is that the focus of the app is to offer a unified listening experience across all the services, so I can totally understand why my requests wouldn't fit well with the goals. happy to revisit this at some point in the future, or chat more via email. i am at anthony@hypem.com.

It seems that https://getharmony.xyz/home redirects successfully to https://getharmony.xyz However https://getharmony.xyz/home?ref=... does not successfully redirect, so people won't see the page if they click the "Get It" link. Just thought I'd flag this quickly before it has time to do too much damage.
Vince Loewe
@yaphi1 Oops 😜 indeed, fixed, thanks for reporting!
Vince Loewe
@yaphi1 Thanks! :)

THIS. Seriously, this is amazing.
Vince Loewe
