A simple journaling app for iOS and Android to help you cultivate little moments of joy and gratitude. Record 3 gratitudes or positive moments each day to boost your happiness by focusing more on the bright side of things.
Also @mattkandler i would like to feature this product on my Instagram page StartUps101 wherein we cover apps and products that have a positive impact on our user's life.
I would also love to record an episode with you for my business podcast on the topic of Gratitude Journaling for entrepreneurs.
Looking forward to your reply!
I’m all about making money from things you make. However, data shouldn’t be locked in, in my opinion, if there is a free tier. Am I correct in seeing that your data is stuck in the app unless you pay the recurring subscription?
@chase_ats I know exactly what you mean and I had a hard time making that decision, but the issue is that creating a PDF filled with images (sometimes almost 100 pages) is a really intensive activity for the server and ends up being really expensive. Generally my philosophy is: if it costs more for the app to run, it should be on the paid tier.
Maybe there could be a less "pretty" option for free users? I don't want them to feel like their data is locked in. Part of the reason for the free trial of the subscription is that it could be used to download your data before leaving (for example). And in a case-by-case basis I would never deny a data request.
Any other thoughts on this?
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m Matt, the solo founder of Happyfeed. Believe it or not, Happyfeed was originally just an experiment to learn how to code iPhone apps. Nearly 7 years later, it’s a pretty robust journaling app!
I’ve been using Happyfeed for 1780 days now and I can say it’s made a significant impact on my life. Over the holidays, I added a PDF download feature and was shocked by all the moments I had forgotten about from the past year alone. Embarrassing shots of a friend, food from countless restaurants, lots of sunsets…
"Pods" is a new concept for Happyfeed 3.0 - a way of making journaling a little more social. Join a small group of friends to share your progress, NOT your actual posts ...because that would destroy the whole point of private reflection! Users can join as many Pods as they like and see their friends’ weekly progress, total days and current streak. To make things more fun, they can send emoji reactions (not unlike Slack).

Fitness apps should be the only ones that support you! 💪
Hi @mattkandler!
I just saw your listing and went through your landing page and it's pretty awesome!
I believe that gratitude journaling definitely adds to the quality of life and I really liked the interface of app and memory feature.
Kudos for creating a great product!
Looking forward to your 'Pods' feature and what other people have to say to it!
Congratulations!!
@porush_puri Thanks so much! I think it can be really impactful having a purely positive place on your phone.
I'm anxious to hear what people say about Pods too, hopefully it can evolve into something that supports the habit 😄
I've been having so much trouble journaling in a notebook for the past year. I'm really glad that I stumbled on this today. I'm sooooo excited to see where I go with this. Shared it with my friends as well!
@xiaodili I have a hard time with keeping a notebook habit too, but I try to do it once a week because handwriting helps me open up. I'd love to hear how Happyfeed goes for you or how I could make it easier to get started! Email me at matt@happyfeed.co anytime :)
And thanks for sharing with your friends 💛
I used Happyfeed a year ago when I was going through a rough time with a break up + startup collapsing. Keeping track of a few things that made you happy during the day may not seem like much, but it's the small steps that matter when you need to get out of a personal gulley.
@christopher_sun2 times like those are always the hardest to get into a new habit, hope Happyfeed was able to help a little bit. And (eventually) I'll get to a place where you can see trends and patterns!
