@corleyh Most exciting things are: 1) developers can find jobs based on actual skill rather than pedigree and 2) no more resume black hole. Once a developer takes a code challenge, they'll hear back from the company within 5 days. So now, you just have to be a great dev to find a great job.
@dparkmit@corleyh I think the best part about the app is that it's literally the PERFECT process for an engineer. We basically made this app by saying, how EXACTLY would an engineer want to get a job? Then we built it. And by we I mean all the wonderful makers at our company.
@nireyal Thanks! Yep. We're saving tons of time for recruiters and helping engineers find better opportunities. VMWare, one of our customers, used HackerRank to find a really good developer who was a dishwasher in Spain when he first applied.
@gayle Thanks! We rejected so many alternate designs because one thing the team unanimously agreed on was that a very simple and smooth candidate experience is critical to the success of the app.
Releasing HackerRank Jobs is the best moment of my professional life! I'm really proud of the team for making such a great experience. I'm even more excited about helping people find jobs based on their actual skills rather than pedigree or connections.
Congrats! I love how this really level the playing field for developers who don't have the traditional CS background. A guarantee response from the employer is a lovely touch.
@leonelmore Great question. For every qualified application, the company has to "unlock" the candidate's contact details. They get a maximum of 5 business days to do so and in case they don't, they lose access to "unlock" the candidate. And, this is communicated to the candidate. The reason such a system will work (as opposed to any other sourcing channel) is because companies only have to process qualified applicants from HackerRank Jobs. And "qualified" here is based on an objective assessment of their coding skills as opposed to proxy criteria like years of experience.
I'm incredibly proud to stand behind a product, team, and company that is completely and utterly world class. This app is that. It is by far the best thing I've seen in the technical recruiting software space. I'm so excited this is finally out there!
@johntheoak We believe that some passive candidates would probably become a bit more active once they realize that applying to a job could be this simple and merit-based :) Secondly, HackerRank desktop website (www.hackerrank.com) will become a common ecosystem where hackers will learn, compete and explore job opportunities. Targeting the passive hackers will be more subtle and happen via this website ecosystem.
I've learned about HackerRank because I recently got a challenge invitation from a company for a position. I've checked out the app and noticed that its only for select cities? and possibly not remote workers? :(
@mrcrisopolis Yes, the current launch is a limited beta with 30 companies in India and US (Bay Area and NY only). We'll have jobs in many more cities and remote ones too as we come out of beta.
@marseltov That's good to hear. The current launch is with a limited set of exclusive jobs in the US and India. We'll have jobs in Canada and other companies soon. In the meantime, you can apply to a US job from the website (www.hackerrank.com/jobs) if you're open to relocating.
