Hey Product Hunt! 👋

Thrilled to be back with a major evolution of GPT Subtitler!

Eight months ago, I launched here focusing on AI translation for your existing subtitles. Thanks to your amazing feedback, GPT Subtitler is now a much more complete workflow tool!

What's New Since Last Time?

  • AI Transcription: Now you can upload audio/video files directly and get accurate transcriptions powered by Whisper.

  • Batch Translation: Translate multiple SRT files at once — a huge time-saver for bigger projects.

  • Save, Share & Discover Settings: Found the perfect model + prompt combo? Save it! Even better, share it with the community or discover settings others have shared for specific language pairs or content types.

  • Massively Expanded Model Choice: Beyond GPT, Gemini, and Claude, the website now support the latest models from Mistral, Grok (X.AI), DeepSeek, Qwen — and even allow connections to third-party OpenAI-compatible APIs!

  • Plus: A revamped UI, built-in media recorder, multi-format import and export (SRT, VTT, TXT, ASS), auto language detection, reasoning modes for complex translations, instruction library and countless other refinements.

My core mission remains the same: making high-quality subtitle generation and translation fast, flexible, and accessible.

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Which new feature are you most excited to try? What’s your biggest pain point in the subtitle workflow today?

Happy to answer any questions! 👇

BRO, I want to split the subtitles into 2 parts and run 2 models in parallel at the same time continuously, I think it will improve the translation speed with long subtitles

@kiet_phan_anh Hi, thanks for the suggestion! I'm definitely planning to implement something similar - concurrent processing of subtitles to improve translation speed for longer files. It still needs some testing, but I hope to include this in the next big update

I am incredibly grateful for this website and to its creator. As someone whose first language isn't English, learning the language, especially through movies and TV shows, felt challenging. This tool, with its AI subtitle translations, has been a game-changer for me. It hasn't just translated words; it has genuinely encouraged and accelerated my English learning journey. Furthermore, I really appreciate the quick responses to email inquiries and the constant effort put into updating the AI models and upgrading the website. Thank you so much for creating and maintaining such an impactful and well-supported resource!

i want provide some feedback and suggestions for improving the gptsubtitler tool.

Firstly, I believe the interfaces for the "Subtitles folder" and "subtitle translation" could benefit from improvement. Currently, I find them somewhat difficult to navigate and visually busy. I sincerely hope you will consider enhancing the "Subtitles folder" and "subtitle translation" interfaces to be more user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and better optimized.

In the "subtitle translation" interface section, PLEASE ALLOW ME to edit PROMPT , Additional Context , Few-Shot Examples PERMANENTLY and not revert to default settings, the save setting section doesn't seem to be very good because it doesn't save and apply to the next time I translate, I can only re-enter and apply.

Regarding the interface for sharing "setting subtitle," I believe there is room for improvement.

Perhaps a subtitle translation feature could be integrated with a different layout directly within the sharing section.

Currently, when I share "setting subtitle," my custom prompt is not saved, and the default prompt is used instead.

It would be beneficial to add a COMMENT section, allowing users to provide feedback and ratings. This would greatly assist creators in refining their shared settings.

This section focuses specifically on your points about the sharing interface, including the suggestion for integrated translation, the issue with the prompt not being saved, and the idea of adding a comment section.

it seems essential to include a feature for manually editing subtitles alongside the video playback, or potentially incorporating an "AI" powered editing function.

Finally, I believe a general chat feature would be a valuable addition, enabling users to easily comment, share settings, and interact with each other.

Thank you very much for considering my comments. I appreciate your work on this tool.
