Chrome broke keyboard shortcuts! (via search engines) - HELP

Chrome's latest update broke hundreds of keyboard shortcuts I've made over the years using their edit search engines feature, and I cannot find a workaround. I basically can't use my browser anymore. It's killing me.

Does anybody else use keyboard shortcuts to navigate to websites? What's the workaround? I'd be willing to switch browsers or install a dedicated app. I just would really love to preserve all the keyboard shortcuts I've made.

I use @Karabiner configured with Hyper launcher modification for frequently used websites + mac apps. But if you prefer navigating using command bar, @Raycast has quicklinks which should provide similar behavior .

@rajsb_ Oh, interesting. I could change my launcher behavior to launch sites directly from the launcher vs accessing sites from the URL bar, but I'm reluctant to unless I can't find a url-bar solution. I do use Karabiner to remap Caps Lock to mute buttons on @Tandem and @Zoom.

Does @Arc allow for pre-defined url shortcuts? Curious what others do. @chrismessina @bernatfortet @suhail @joshm .

Update: I forked a Chrome extension and did some modifications using Replit Agent, but the solution is a bit clunkier, maybe a few hundred milliseconds slower than it was before. I'm still looking for a faster and more permanent solution.

I use the vimium chrome extension and arc browser, I basically don't need the mouse with these 2 haha. What keyboard shortcuts are gone for you now that you need?

Rajiv Ayyangar

@alan_rivera I have a couple hundred shortcuts for sites like Linear, Product Hunt, Superhuman, and basically any site that I visit on a regular basis. For example "in" -> my superhuman inbox (personal). "inp" -> product hunt superhuman inbox.

I use @Vimium, but obviously that comes with its own can of worms :)

@catt_marroll What's your workflow? Do you set up custom shortcuts for websites? Vimium requires you to use a different shortcut to access aliases, right?

Matt Carroll

@rajiv_ayyangar  yeah it is more like a layer to control any page with the keyboard vs a specific set of shortcuts.

so you can in theory click anything on the page from the keyboard. i think you can do page specific keybindings as well, but there is probably a cleaner general purpose tool if thats your only goal.
