Quine helps developers build and showcase an impressive open source portfolio that highlights their superpowers as coders and their individuality as software creators ✨
@dustin_durham exactly! OSS contributions are so helpful when applying for jobs. One of our aims is that your Quine profile will easily let you showcase them (and your skills) to future employers and make the whole hiring process much easier for everyone!
@dustin_durham Hey Dustin, of course! We even have a space in your profile where you can explain and share important details about your OSS contributions, give more context to the readers in order to have better understanding.
Hello ProductHunt 👋
I'm Rodrigo, founder of Quine. I'm super excited about sharing this with y'all!
We built Quine to help developers build and showcase an impressive open source portfolio that highlights their superpowers as coders and their individuality as software creators. The job market has reduced software developers to a small set of labels: ”frontend,” “backend,” “databases,” and so on. However, the sum total of a developer’s experiences is much deeper and far more textured than any of those labels might suggest. Developers are a set of insights, world-views, communities, and aspirations that, more often than not, can be inferred from the code they write and the open source metadata associated to them.
We have semantically indexed over 155,000 GitHub repos to help developers navigate the sea of open source and help them build verifiable experience through open source contributions. Our recommendation system analyses your activity on GitHub to match you with unassigned good-first-issues in the OSS communities which best align with your interests, experience, and creative aspirations. This, while helping maintainers build an audience of contributors for their repos.
Contributor experience is stored in your Quine profile 🔋, which verifies your experience in programming languages by automatically collecting any supporting evidence. Users can also pin and comment on their most significant GitHub achievements, along with viewing and interacting with the associated metadata (Issues, PRs, Stargazers, etcetera).
Education and work are changing, especially in software development. Our goal is to help developers connect with the best opportunities in the job market and open source through data and ML. After a year in stealth-mode we’re excited to present the first alpha version of our platform, which focuses on open source. We’re very interested in your feedback and welcoming you to our community on Discord https://discord.gg/quine
