Wow — exciting news! One of my favorite desktop GIF creating apps has been acquired by Gfycat! The competition in the GIF space is almost as hot as it is in the bot space! :P

@chrismessina thanks Chris! Competition is ultimately great for consumer who get a superior product. GIF Brewery is best-in-class GIF editing and we were so excited to make it free and add awesome capture capabilities :)
@richard_rabbat can you explain how the Sierra color optimization algorithm works?
@chrismessina @richard_rabbat Since a GIF can only have at most 256 colors, you need a way to apply the smaller palette of colors to the original frames. Sierra is a pretty powerful algorithm for that purpose. It diffuses the "error" of converting to the smaller palette to neighboring pixels. Spreading the error out improves the fidelity of the entire quantized image.

I like the app but it is missing some major features. E.g.
— Speeding up the GIF
— URL copy for just the GIF file
— URL should be copied and created before the image is uploaded, waiting for it to upload just wastes everyones' time.

- speeding up the GIF: In the .gif settings pane, there are options to adjust the frame count and frame delay. A loop can be readily sped up by either decreasing the frame count or the frame delay
- URL copy for just the GIF file: when you click the URL, under the settings cog icon, you can link up to a small GIF file (up to 5 MB) or the larger one (if you made a large GIF)
- URL should be copied and created: yes, that's a UI change we should make, since we make the URL immediately
I use GIF Brewery for all of my GIF needs! I've checked out competitors in the past, but they just don't match up. Hopefully this makes it even better!

Giphy is the future and using video and recorded videos to create this type of content would be amazing!
Pros:Loved the idea.
The process has been broken down into simpler steps
Even a beginner can use it
Cons:Only for Mac users..:(
Ok, After my comment I tried several times to install the app. For the first time I got 'this item is not available in the Ukrainian Store. Check out the US Store'. I tried and got 'Item is available in US Store only'. After that I tried again and got the message 'This item is not currently available in US store'. And then I tried to install the app for the third time and voila, it's already installed!
@hannaxu @unforbiddenyet so the problem is with the page - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/... - it brings up a message saying it's in the US store only HOWEVER, if you go to your mac store and SEARCH, you can get it. i just did here in the uk.
