What matters more when building your early team shared vision or diverse skill sets?
Startups don’t fail because of bad ideas.
They often fail because of misaligned teams or missing pieces.
When you’re building from scratch, every person you bring in carries huge weight; they don’t just fill a role, they shape the culture, direction, and momentum.
Some founders believe the key is finding people who breathe the same vision.
People who “get it,” who’ll show up when it’s hard, and who care deeply about the mission.
Others say, bring in people who challenge you.
Who offers a different lens?
Who comes with skills you don’t have and thinks in ways you wouldn’t?
Both sound right.
But when the pressure is on, and you’re choosing your first 3 to 5 people, what do you prioritize?
Curious to hear your take, drop your thoughts below.

To cater above situation, i finalized 3 key people at my hiring business outsource vertical back in 2018, as 4 departments, 1st C level executives me and my known , 2nd operations, 3rd Marketing, 4th Finance where SOPs and CTAs prepared by us with head of other 3 departments, with prolonged discussion with top level experienced alumni in my network, wherever all have decided work commencement for the same vision to face challenges to setup the startup not with the people, prioritize 1st and 2nd step mentioned above, and now the operations part that budget decided by finance department and we have to work accordingly.
