Well, it's kind of weird to write this but I once scheduled to turn off the laptop's charger. That's how much of a packed schedule I live in.π
What's the strangest thing you schedule, Brenna?
@software_guy I mean it sounds like that is one tightly packed schedule! Mine is not quite that detailed. I do have time booked in throughout the week to practice to German, which if I don't set aside, procrastination will always get the better of me.
I see a lot of people reacting with things that they no not want to forget. But do not forget also that planning things in your calendar, also gives you a grip of your time.
Time is the only thing that is really limited, and everyone has the same amount of it. So allocating time for actions, tasks gives you the ability to use your time in the best way.
Lunch seems funny to plan. Why would you forget. But it also blocks that time to do other things during that moment.
@patrickloonstra I couldn't agree more with your perspective on the importance of allocating your time where it matters. I find it interesting how much our calendars have gone from being just events, to also being a way to prioritize and protect time. I was watching a video the other day on the importance of building rest and recovery moments in our day after cognitively intense work sessions in the same way we would after an intense workout. I think there's something to it.
Focus time, gym/run/surf, walking to and from meetings, coffee or drinks with friends, naps, new episodes of apple tv shows that come out on Thursdays or Fridays π all neatly planned in my Morgen calendar.
@nik_hazell hah I do the same for the months I work remote! And leaving it open for my team to see that I'm surfing (not just "busy" status) because I want people to see the reason and that it's okay to block time for these things.
@angeli_ remember being a kid and thinking being an adult was going to so glamorous and cool. Yep, and here we are, scheduling time to buy conditioner.
Fishing! I recently blocked half a day to go do that w/ my young son, who I'd been been promising "sometime" to for too long (we had a fantastic time). That and a couple other experiences have made me realize how great half a day can be β it's easier to fit / schedule (and thus much more likely to actually happen) than taking a full day off, but still long enough to be meaningful for important things that never seem to fit on the weekends.
@nrparsons oh my gosh yes. The idea of taking off a full day feels overwhelming. I love this. I recently moved to Switzerland where kids all have Wednesday afternoons off. Whenever I have a chance to spend a Wednesday afternoon with them, it makes the whole week feel so much better.
@julia_bitsens@brenna_donoghue oh, im in a good company !)) I have special counter app, this is really watering-flowers-management tool, can't imagine how to do it otherwise)
