What are the most common industries/companies you invest in and what do you use for that?
I'm pretty sure that most makers don't just rely on the income from their tools, but also create some kind of financial reserve, a "cushion" in investments.
1️⃣ I'd be interested in which companies or industries you invest in?
2️⃣ What was your strangest investment?
3️⃣ Which investment (feel free to name an industry) brought you high profits?
4️⃣ Which one was the most unsuccessful?
5️⃣ What apps, websites do you use for buying/selling/trading?
As for me:
I will exclude crypto because it is probably one of the most widespread investments among tech guys. I have invested in companies whose products I somehow own, e.g. Apple.
My strangest investment was in soy beans. 😀
I had high profits from arms industry.
The most unsuccessful was Virgin Galactic but also at certain point I had hard time with Meta.
I use Trading 212.

I customise my strategies for my goals:
Need my money next year? I invest in money market funds or high interest yielding savings accounts.
Need my money in next 3-7 years, I go highly diversified in all asset classes and regions, with a higher exposure to securer investments such as bonds and real estate.
More than 7 years (such as retirement)? High exposure in stocks. But again, highly diversified over regions and ETFs.
Pro tip: In the UK we have some really nice tax wrappers for our investments, so I make sure to use as much of my allowances as possible to shield my investments from the tax man. ;)
For my investments I use low-cost trading platforms, but since I'm launching my own solution in a month, I'll be using that going forward. It's cheaper than most robo-advisors and offers full financial automation, so I don't need to do all of the above by myself, but let the app do it for me. :D
@laura_cornely which platforms do you use? :D tell us :D
@busmark_w_nika Haha, I used to use my Cash ISA (check out newest comparisons for best rates) for my savings and trading212 for investments.
Starting July I'll use Count (www.count-finance.com). We always try to get the best savings rates and we automatically budget, save and invest for our users.
For everyone who doesn't know how to get started or simply doesn't have the time, we do everything finance automatically for you. ;)
@laura_cornely Thank you for sharing, gonna check that count finance web :)
@busmark_w_nika Haha, absolutely! I'd love your feedback as well.
