I have worked with MLM startup, and for them affiliate program was the main marketing channel. So obviously they had it at the beginning.
In most cases, an affiliate program is not where you start, though. There are easier ways to get early customers. But it all depends on what customers you are targetting.
Hmm, I don't know if businesses will promote services they use just for a commission just because they want to protect the secret sauce. More geared to B2C I would say. Tell me I'm wrong, I'd be happy to learn of instances where B2B affiliate programs work.
@glenfish Me too, our product is for sales or business development reps. So I'm not very clear whether this is considered B2B or B2C. It seems to be a tool for individuals in enterprises to use in the working scenarios, and I also don't know if this kind of tool is suitable for affiliate marketing.
