Is August a good month to launch on Product Hunt?
I’ve been digging into Hunted.Space stats for August launches over the past few years and the differences between days are wild.
– Wednesday to Thursday → Busy days, lots of traffic, lots of competition.
– Saturday & Sunday → Projects launched on weekends get 3–4x fewer upvotes on average.
– Monday and Friday → Historically quieter than Monday, but still about 2x stronger than weekends.
But here’s the twist:
In August 2024, some of the strongest launches of the entire month happened on Fridays. The average upvote count for Friday winners was 1801- nearly 3x higher than the Friday average in 2023.
So the big question is:
Will that trend continue in 2025?
And more importantly: would you change your launch strategy based on this data?
Would love to hear:
– Are you launching this August?
– Would you avoid weekends even if the competition is lighter?

Really interesting breakdown — appreciate you sharing this! That Friday spike in 2024 is definitely eye-catching, but I’d be cautious about reading too much into it. Could easily be driven by a few standout launches rather than a broader shift.
I’m launching in September, on a Monday — not the hottest day statistically, but it gives me room to activate support without midweek pressure. Weekends still feel like a no-go for reach, even if competition is lighter.
Curious to see if the Friday trend continues this year — but for now, I’d still treat it as an outlier.
@alesia_cherniavskaia Hey, hi Alessia!
Monday is always a good day for a launch! And September means you have a whole month to prepare. What kind of project are you launching?
@byalexai We’re getting ready to launch a knowledge app that takes the best of Notion-style organization and expands it. Notes, visual boards, and AI chats all live in one unified project hierarchy. It’s built for structured thinking, visual organization, and using your knowledge as real-time context when working with multiple AI models inside your workspace.
@alesia_cherniavskaia Is it a free app?
@tetiana_hryshmanovska Hey Tetiana!
We will give a trial period and a 90% discount for members of the PH community. That is, practically free the first month. Further — freemium, you can switch to a free tariff with limitations on the number of boards, documents, and AI-tokens or choose a paid one, which will more suit under your needs.
Great insights, thanks for sharing! We're launching on August 13th (Wednesday) and agree weekends are risky despite less competition. Curious to see how it goes.
@vincenzo_manto Nice! Wednesday is super busy always!
What's your project?
@byalexai Hah yeah, Wednesdays are always wild! 😅
I’m launching Datastripes, a no-code data analytics & visualization platform.
Also curious… is Monday any better? 😂
@vincenzo_manto Wednesday is perfect. Same with Monday.
@sabro Tuesday is a great day too.
Weekdays and weekends really feel like different worlds on PH. I’ve always steered clear of weekends, but that Friday surge in 2024 definitely confirms that a well-timed, well-prepped Friday launch is usually a hidden sweet spot. Less midweek noise but still plenty of eyes.
Friday doesn’t feel as crazy as it once did. At the same time, I worry about losing momentum through the weekend if follow-up gets slow. It’s a delicate trade-off between competition and attention span.
Anyone else tempted to roll the dice on a Friday this year, or will midweek remain the reliable go-to?
@sanskarix What are you gonna launch?
@byalexai hard-hitting question. We took a major decision to revamp the entire UI and make some crucial changes on the back-end.
Not quite sure, but maybe I'll take a shot in October.
I would avoid weekends, we're probably considering Monday or Friday. I'm new to Product Hunt, so I'm still searching and figuring out the best way to launch.
@tetiana_hryshmanovska Hey, Tetiana! My advice is to start preparing 3–4 weeks before the launch.
Otherwise, both days – Monday and Friday – are good. If you’re aiming for ranking, Friday is quite a good option.
@byalexai Thank you!
Funny how I’ve always thought of Fridays as a slow day for launches, and now these 2024 numbers are making me rethink
@johannagoulart we launched last Friday and it was a good day.
Over 500 upvotes.
When is your launch day?
@byalexai That's great to hear, congrats!! We're launching on the 21st, it’s a Thursday, so let’s see how it goes!
@johannagoulart nice! You have 7 days to prepare everything!

That’s super interesting, especially the friday spike in 2024. I have always assumed weekends were dead zones, but now I’m wondering if a well-prepped Friday launch (with some pre-seeded support) might actually be a sweet spot less crowded than midweek but still high engagement.
I’m planning a launch later this August, and I was originally eyeing a Wednesday, but now this has me reconsidering. Might test Friday just to see if the trend holds. curious to hear if others are shifting their strategies too?
@santosh__kumar9 Yep. Friday might be a good day .

@byalexai Cool! Lets boost eachother to the front page!
Interesting breakdown. I’ve usually stayed away from weekends, but those Friday numbers from last year are making me reconsider. I’m planning for the next launch of Kintz, a breakup healing app, on Product Hunt soon and still torn between Friday or weekends as the chances to get the badge are higher.
Has anyone here launched something in the mental health space on a Friday or weekends and seen good results?
