Indie devs: how do you market your side projects?
Hey everyone! I’m an indie dev, and I’ve been noticing that marketing tends to be the trickiest part of launching side projects or micro-SaaS apps. I’d love to hear how others here tackle it:
Which marketing tactics or channels have been most effective for you?
What’s been your biggest challenge in getting the word out?
Any unexpected wins or lessons learned along the way?
Feel free to drop links, anecdotes, or tips. I’m eager to learn from your real-world experiences—whether they’re successes or flops. Thanks in advance!

I would also like some tips on marketing. I'm not doing so well, I'm trying to build a following but I'm not really a content creator.
@appsforhumans
Totally feel you—I'm in the same boat. I’m a dev first, definitely not a natural content creator either 😅
That’s actually what led me to start building CoLaunchly—trying to make the marketing part less overwhelming for devs like us. It gives you a launch plan + content ideas based on your audience and product type.
It’s still early, but if you're curious, happy to share more or get your feedback!
@alex_cloudstar It sounds like a good idea. All depends on the quality of the content. I've tried using ChatGPT to give me some content ideas but they're so engagement baity, which is probably fine, it's the kind of stuff you see people with a lot of followers posting, but I'm not like that 🙁
@appsforhumans
Totally get that. A lot of AI content feels like it’s made for influencers—not indie devs just trying to share honestly.
That’s something I’m trying to avoid with CoLaunchly. The goal is to generate content that actually fits your voice and audience—not just the most clickbaity stuff. Still a work in progress, but that balance really matters to me too.
Appreciate you checking it out 🙌
That's sounds nice, I'm in 🙂
I accept your flattery 😂
