Currently sitting at 858 days ā which puts me at #29 on the Product Hunt streak leaderboard.
But here's the kicker: I once lost a streak of around 150+ days due to a slip-up. If that hadnāt happened, Iād likely be in the top 10 right now. Still stings a little š
Funny thing about the streak leaderboard ā itās kind of a zero-sum game.
Like on a derivatives exchange: itās not enough to keep doing your part; someone above you has to mess up for you to move up. Your gain = someone elseās loss. Brutal, but oddly motivating.

Mine is only 14 days, but it has been fun checking in here and seeing what everyone is up to / thinking about. I intend to continue, whatever happens to my streak :)
Streaks as an idea is quite a fun subject for me, as I implemented streaks in my own product (language learning).
Some people hate them, and I get it. When streaks start to replace your intrinsic motivation, and become the target themselves, it really hurts to lose them. In language learning, that means someone may stop learning because they lost their streak, which is a real shame.
The way I implemented them in my own product is that someone's streak is their Personal Best streak. Their current streak is shown as a secondary thing.
The idea comes from the gym, where a PB is a PB... you can never lose your PB. You got it for life.
It's working well so far. Users sometimes aim to beat their best streak, rather than it all being about a single number always going up.
I am treating my PH streak the same way here, even though I know it doesn't actually work the same way.
For anyone thinking about adding a streak feature to their own apps, hopefully this little tangent helped.

Dang, 858 days is impressive! My longest streak was ~160 days... until I ditched it for a full mom-day (zero regrets though! š).

My current streak is 280 days. In fact, since I became active on Product Hunt, Iāve only missed exactly 2 days. I had two other streaks, each around 100 days.
One time we were traveling to another country and I logged in (but apparently the time difference was more than 24 hours), and the other time it was my wifeās birthday and I got distracted (even though I still logged in, it must have been more than 24 hours apart).

Something similar happened with me. I lost a streak of more than 200 days. Then I lost the motivation to do it again. But I just finished 100 days of streak today!
I have lost a streak of around 230+ days, but currently I am in the top 5, so if I add 230 more days, then I'd be on top.
But the funny thing is I can't even remember how I missed the streak because I have never checked it. I visit PH multiple times a day to explore new products, and I never tried to maintain the streak; it's almost effortless for me.
Congrats on sticking to 859 days.
