How do you make the atmosphere in your company more pleasant for your team?
I believe this topic is relevant to you as well, since there are many company founders here at various stages of starting up or running their businesses.
Visual Capitalist shared the results of Glassdoor reviews, revealing which companies are most admired by their employees. (See the infographic below.)
There is a reason why employees consider these companies to be good/convenient/appealing for work.
That's why I would like to know:
How do you increase the attractiveness of your company and create a good atmosphere in the workplace?
It is understandable that when people feel good, they will do better work and eventually produce better results.

One of the biggest factors in how employees feel at work is trust and freedom.
Too many managers, department heads, or even CEOs think they need to control every detail assuming they know best in every field. But the truth is, when you actually trust your team, give them space to own their work, and recognize the unique skills they bring, projects move faster, and team morale improves significantly.

@yannest We all know those micromanagers :D they hire someone but do decisions and that work either :D
At our agency, the biggest thing that shapes the atmosphere is open culture. Sounds simple, but it’s everything - honest feedback, zero politics, no fear of asking “why?” or saying “I’m not sure.”
We run regular retros in playful formats (even meme-driven ones), hold “refresh calls” every other Friday where we talk about anything but work, and give space for non-performative feedback. No fake positivity, no ego walls - just real conversations.
The vibe is: everyone’s human first, and we’re building trust before we build process.
That’s been a game changer for both happiness and output.

@tokarevdigital MEME culture would be win for me! :D
Nice thread Nika! In our company we've been operating on a 4-day workweek for the past 5 years — no meetings or deliverables on Fridays. It’s had a huge positive impact on our team's well-being, motivation, and overall productivity.

@aarca Cool! I found it: https://buzzmyvideos.com/ :)
This question is for companies not for employees, but we as employees can contribute also to make the work environment enjoyable by being positive, friendly and team players ☺️

@eljo_prifti Yes, you can also show your interest and perspective – I think it is beneficial when a company meets the expectations of their employees :)

Atmosphere isn't about perks. It's about psychological safety.
People need to feel like they can speak up, fail, and still be respected.
That creates creativity. That builds loyalty.

@parth_ahir That's a sure thing. But how do you want to compete with those companies for the best talents when the other competition company has a friendly environment + perks for employees? :)
These are three few points of mine which will be helpful to your question.
1 Open Communication:
Encourage open and honest communication where everyone feels they can express their thoughts, ideas, and concerns without fear of judgment.
Regular team meetings, check-ins, or informal chats can help establish a culture of transparency.
2. Recognizing Achievements:
Acknowledge individual and team accomplishments, both big and small. This can be through shout-outs in meetings, written recognition, or even small celebrations.
When people feel appreciated, it boosts morale and makes them feel valued.
Great question, Nika! Creating a pleasant atmosphere at work is definitely key to both employee happiness and productivity. In our company, we focus on fostering open communication and a culture of appreciation—regularly celebrating small wins and encouraging team members to share ideas without fear of judgment. We also prioritize flexibility, allowing people to choose when and where they work best, which helps reduce stress and improve work-life balance. Additionally, simple things like comfortable workspaces, access to healthy snacks, and occasional team-building activities go a long way in making the environment more enjoyable. Ultimately, investing in your team’s well-being not only boosts morale but also drives better results. Would love to hear how others are cultivating positive workplace cultures!
