How do you make people aware of your presence on Product Hunt?

I originally came to Product Hunt just to launch a product. But the more I explore, the more I realize this is a really interesting community. There are lots of great ideas, smart people, and valuable discussions.

The thing is... I still feel kind of invisible.

I’ve posted a few times. Some posts got a few upvotes, but barely any comments or replies. It feels like I’m talking into the void.

So now I’m wondering:

  • How do you make people notice you here (in a non-spammy way)?

  • Should I be commenting more on other people’s posts?

  • Or is there something I’m missing about how this community works?

I was also thinking, maybe this thread could become a space to connect with other active members? I’d love to meet people who are genuinely part of this community, not just launching and leaving.

A quick intro about me:

I’m 38, with 15 years of experience in startups.

My focus has been on growth. I’ve worked in ride-hailing, fintech, food delivery, etc.

I’ve helped scale companies from zero to over $100M in value, including a few unicorns (mostly local markets).

Now, I want to learn more about how to launch globally and I’m here to learn from all of you.

If you see this post, drop a comment so I know you’re here too 🙂

And if you’ve ever felt like nobody notices you on Product Hunt, then hey… I guess I’m not alone 😅

Hey Hugh, it is complex, and I would say you need to be long-term here.

  • During the nearly three years I’ve been active there, I’ve tried countless products and provided extensive feedback to help people improve their products, offering insights, pointing out bugs, and more.

  • Every day, I’ve posted discussion topics, sometimes sharing tips, other times seeking advice, expertise, or experiences.

  • Beyond that, I’ve been building communities across other social media platforms.

  • Last one: Be authentic and kind. I can’t respond to everyone or say “yes” to every opportunity I’m offered, but I always try to offer an alternative, whether it’s internal or an external referral (like pointing someone to a relevant contact).

Wishing you GL here! :)

@busmark_w_nika Thank you for showing me the way. I realize I’m already doing most of what you mentioned.

The only thing I haven’t been consistent with is trying and reviewing products on Product Hunt, mostly because I haven’t had much time to explore and write thoughtful feedback. But thanks to your reminder, I’ll try to make more time for that and support others in the community.

Really appreciate your insight

Let me start by saying, great post (actually read through the whole thing XD).

I think commenting does help in building connections/followers so maybe that will help boost your content here.

I'm fairly new on product hunt and have 3 years of experience as a growth specialist now moving into building and launching my own ideas.
Anyway, Just wanted to drop in here and let you know that you're not alone :)

@jagriti_kumar1 Hi, nice to meet you!

It’s great to see another growth person here. Most folks on this platform seem to be developers or product builders, so it's a fun coincidence. I also work in growth.

Really admire the fact that you're launching your own product. Wishing you the best of luck and hope to see you around on this journey!

I haven’t launched anything myself, but I’ve been around working with my boyfriend and his colleague.

They recently put out a SEO toolkit: Findable, currently #2 🏆 on Product Hunt.

From what I’ve seen, showing up in the forum is what actually makes a difference. Launches come and go, but being part of the conversation is what sticks.

You’re doing the right thing with this post, this is how people start to notice.

@hwiidg Hey, really appreciate your honesty here I think a lot of us have felt this way on Product Hunt at some point. It can be tough to break through the noise, especially when you're genuinely here to connect and not just promote.

Your experience is impressive, and it’s great that you're open to learning and contributing. Commenting on others’ posts, engaging in discussions, and showing up consistently definitely helps but posts like this are exactly what build real community.

You’re not invisible you just made a very real connection here. Looking forward to seeing more from you! Let’s keep this thread alive I’m Sania, working in digital marketing and SaaS growth. Would love to stay in touch!

@sania_khan10 Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful words, Sania. It really means a lot to hear that, especially from someone also working in SaaS and marketing. I truly appreciate the encouragement and would love to stay in touch as well. Looking forward to more great conversations here!

@hwiidg Thank you for such a kind reply it honestly made my day!

It’s always refreshing to connect with someone who truly understands the SaaS and marketing space.

I’m really looking forward to exchanging ideas, learning from each other, and sharing insights as we both grow in this field. Let’s definitely stay connected excited for what’s ahead :)

For us, it’s leaning into discussion topics creators and brands already care about. Since we’re solving monetization friction for YouTubers and giving brands better access, we jump into convos around influencer ROI, AdSense frustration, and brand discovery—without overt self-promo.

@uxyemi Good strategy. I'm facing one issue: my co-founder still doesn't have a clear picture of our target audience. Otherwise, I'd also dive deep into discussions like this.

@hwiidg Knowing your target audience should be the first thing you do before building anything. It comes in the discovery phase when the problems are identified and solution suggestions derived. It's not too late, you guys could simply prompt AI to describe/model your target audience for you, then expand on it or keep it focused.

What are you building?
