Have you ever had your launch cancelled or delayed?

Hey everyone,

Last year I released my first app and published it to the App Store, and although it took me way longer than planned, I couldn’t be more grateful!

Backstory: I started developing a mental health app about a year ago and I added a coming soon banner to ProductHunt. I was planning on releasing the app in October and September had just started, so it was the perfect amount of time to get some users on the waiting list. However, at the same time I created the banner, I was just enrolling in the developer program and it really took too long. I lost track of time and my product launched here, but I didn't even have it on the App Store yet, so I lost those users in the waiting list, since they opened an almost empty launch.

Luckily, I got to remove the launch and publish it again in early December and got close to the interactions I was expecting initially.

What about you? Have you ever experienced delays or even had to cancel out a launch?

Launching soon!

Been there with the timing disasters 😅

Read a solid post from @ha_my_tran and got some real advice from @busmark_w_nika that made me pause and actually improve stuff before launching here on PH.

Better to delay and ship something people actually want than rush and waste that first impression. Sounds like you made the right call removing and relaunching properly.

Your mental health app sounds cool. How's it performing now that it's been live for a while?

@ha_my_tran  @busmark_w_nika  @lucascliberato Exactly, it's best to ship something functional than rushing to impressions.

I'm glad you asked! The app is performing just about my average expectations. Since I'm bootstrapping this project, some months are better than others. I still haven't been able to promote it organically or get some media outlets to talk about it, perhaps because it has been my first-ever launch on the internet, but hopefully things will take shape soon.

A new app feature will be launched soon: basically a digital medical ID you can use to autofill data in health apps, skip the line at hospitals and even access some venues.

I'm overall excited and can't wait for this community to hear more from Nomadful!

Thanks for sharing :)

Launching soon!
I had an interesting one there: Ended up building the product much ahead of time (few months) and then delaying it a bit to let the marketing get absorbed…Overall still early. Important thing is to not delay because you want to add more features.

@manu_goel2 Exactly, just like launching with delays isn't optimal, launching too early can also mean giving up on precious time to correct bugs and add some final touches. Thanks for sharing!
