From Productivity to Portrait Generator: The (Unspoken) Struggle of a ChatGPT Premium User

So here's a funny-but-frustrating experience I need to share...

Like many of you, I got ChatGPT Premium for all the cool AI tools — code help, content generation, productivity hacks, etc. I thought I was investing in a super assistant.

Then came the Ghibli Portrait trend.

Out of curiosity (and honestly, because it looked cool), I uploaded my image and posted the Ghibli-style portrait across LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.

That was my first mistake. 😅

Within hours, DMs started rolling in:

"Hey bro, can you make one for me too?"
"Here’s my wife’s photo – please do hers too."
"Also my mom, dad, and these 6 cousins. Just for fun 😄"

It escalated FAST. I went from a user to the unofficial Ghibli Portrait Department for friends, family, their family, and even their neighbors.

The kicker?

Despite being a Premium user, there are limits:

• You can’t generate unlimited images.

• There’s throttling and delays.

• Each image takes 1-3 minutes.

• And once you hit the soft cap, it slows down even more.

While people happily send their pics and wait stress-free, I’m stuck managing:

• Slow generation times

• Frustrating limits

• A growing inbox full of “Any update?” messages

All I wanted was to explore AI tools and do meaningful stuff. Now I’m running a free Ghibli portrait agency for everyone I know.

I’m curious...

• How are you managing the “AI favors” once people know you’ve got access?
