Burnout - Who is feeling it too?

I have been building, learning, searching, investing for the last 6 years, back to back, non-stop. I feel I have officially reached burnout. One week I am super into building and I code new things like crazy. And the next I just want to chill and go surfing lol. Do you go through a similar phase? How do you deal with the constant change of emotions?

Sometimes I feel "overused" :D but I have learned to do more things I like and are not related to work – exercising, reading books, trying new sports with friends, cultural events, travelling :)

Tasos V

@busmark_w_nika yeah exactly. and all the other things are amazing and great to do so we can take a breath from the "building like your life depends on it" madness. Wish we didnt HAVE to do anything. Just WANT to do stuff.

Nika

@cryptosymposium got your point. But I like doing things and switching it. My life is more interesting then. This was yesterday's reset. https://x.com/BusMark_w_Nika/status/1916532514727882892

It happens, especially if you do a lot of things at the same time. Take a break and do some outdoor sports. You would be back on track, energized, and more motivated.

Tasos V

@eljo_prifti yeah exactly. thats the plan. also i live in spain and today was a full electricity black out, 8 hours getting sun by the grass. helped a bit.

Eljo Prifti

Hi @cryptosymposium, and thank you for the reply. I read about the electricity blackout in Spain. This is a relaxing coincidence.

Well, Tasos, as a student, part time employee and self project developer, sometimes i feel the same. Nut by seating back and think why i'm doing all this it just helps me and push me to keep going! Finding free time for yourself and use it right, doing things that you really like and having a plan/program will really help you. Keep going!!

Tasos V

@haris_designer totally agree. Make sure you enjoy the process and what you do you do it because you really enjoy it. And not for the final outcome. Otherwise you cant keep pushing forever.

Haris Designer

@cryptosymposium Exactly! And at the same time, as long as we are young, believe me, we are more capable and strong of what we thing we are. This way of thinging will give you more strength, in my opinion.

Tasos V

@haris_designer yeah definitely. The realization of the quote that when u are young, nothing is too good nothing is too bad. But also define young haha

I’ve learned to accept that those shifts aren’t a problem to fix. They’re more of a signal. When I feel active, I ride the wave and get as much done as I can. And when the urge to chill hits, I let myself step back without guilt. Reading fiction, gardening, like doing something completely different from work is a part of the process too.

Tasos V

@angelinashv couldnt envy this more. Maybe you can teach me - us - how to ditch that guilt part when not doing much haha. but yeah same here, when the urge to chill hits, i grab the guitar and just get lost for a bit.

Ahh, I feel this so much. Some weeks I’m full of ideas and energy, and then suddenly I just need to switch off and do nothing for a bit. 😂

I am working and studying, so every day feels like the same routine for me, but on weekends, I try to explore different places (historical, cafes, and parks) so I won't exhaust myself :)

I am enjoying the way I am working.

Tasos V

@hamza_afzal_butt niiiice - and yeah, finding new places and changing environment helps a lot. especially if those new places are social or in nature.

@cryptosymposium I feel you man. I have been feeling burnout from past few months as I have been juggling between full- time, some side projects and a new born. Some days it's really hard to focus on side projects and other days you have to put more time on full-time job and your family.

Hey Tasos! Honestly, same here. 😅 Some weeks I’m researching, creating, learning like there’s no tomorrow, and the next week I’m the laziest human alive, just wanting to chill or binge-watch something random. It’s wild how fast everything moves nowadays. New tools, new updates, new trends, you blink and it feels like you’re already behind. I think that constant pressure to stay updated is why we swing between burnout and hustle mode.At this point, I kinda just accept the ups and downs. Rest is part of the process, too, right? Surf when you feel like surfing, build when the energy hits. 🏄‍♂️🚀 You’re definitely not alone in this!
Tasos V

@nigarsafarova yeah exactly that. I feel that the world is moving too fast and it makes us fomo all the time, that we aint good enough, not building enough or not learning enough. While everyone on social media appears like they are already rich and so smart, while we just managed one more google search lol

@cryptosymposium The funny thing is there is phenomena with startup founders where they are constantly trying to appear bigger, better and richer than they actually are. People have been doing that for ages and they are doing it now with their AI products. Two weeks ago I attended a big startup conference and spent 3 days watching startups pitch their new AI products. At first, I felt the same way as you described, like things are moving way too fast and I’m definitely getting behind. Then I started to notice this trend. These people that were pitching for millions would always talk about “their AI” like they had their own GPUs and owned their proprietary LLMs. Reality was that all they had, like everyone else, is good software connected to OpenAI’s API. I recommend watching podcasts and interviews from Sam Altman. You will notice that if there’s anyone trying to make it look like the world is going to end, it’s definitely not him. It’s going to make you much more chilled and optimistic. Yes it’s moving fast, but not so fast that you cannot keep it up. Hell, if you’re on this forum chances are you are definitely keeping up.

I can definitely relate. It’s crazy how one moment you’re in full build mode and the next you just want to disappear and reset. I’ve learned to stop forcing it. sometimes stepping back actually brings the best ideas. Burnout usually hits me when I ignore those signals for too long.

Tasos V

@priyankamandal yeah true story, and I think i have ignored them for too long as well hah. maybe a bit of balance is necessary at this point. but in the same time AI and v0.dev call me daily lol

Hi, Tasos, Over the years, I’ve consistently absorbed a huge amount of information, kept learning, and worked on projects — almost every day has been high-intensity. Most of the time, I genuinely enjoy and stay positive about the things I’m doing. I’ve chosen a path that’s relatively harder to walk, and I believe you have too. Whether it’s about fulfilling our own creative desires or chasing that slim chance of success, I think both are worthy of respect. There are nights when I get a bit carried away with my PS5 or Xbox, and honestly, I think that’s totally fine — that’s my way of finding balance or releasing stress. I believe everyone has their own ways. I really think you’re doing perfectly fine. It’s important to allow yourself some rest when you’re feeling burnt out, so you can recover in time before negativity takes over. Hope this helps you a little.

I am feeling that as well. I am working to build out productive panda shop at the moment too and it is not easy. We are selling merchandise to generate some revenue.

I started to find some super helpful tools to automate my routing and I found it really helpful. Instead of writing really deep and meaningful responses to the threads, sometimes I just click on the bottom of my social media communication tool (Ai for sure) to formulate the answer. Meanwhile, I can focus on what I really enjoy discovering for a new piece. Shout out for my selection of tools (all found on PH and advised here by the way) for marketing daily routing!)
