Beyond prompts: how are you really integrating AI into your creative workflow?

Like many here, I'm constantly experimenting with AI tools in my workflow. They're incredible for generating ideas, drafting content, coding snippets, etc. – the efficiency gains are undeniable.

But I've been thinking about the deeper integration. Beyond using AI for specific outputs, how is it really changing your core process for creating something significant or achieving substantial growth?

For example:

  • Are you finding yourself spending more time refining prompts and editing AI output than you would have spent on the original task?

  • Is AI helping you tackle fundamentally different or bigger problems than before, or mainly just doing existing tasks faster?

  • What does a truly synergistic workflow with AI look like for you? Where does the AI stop being just a tool and start feeling like a genuine collaborator or amplifier for your core thinking?

I'm curious about the practical realities beyond the hype. What does your day-to-day AI-assisted workflow look like when you're aiming for significant results, not just task completion? What hurdles are you encountering, and what strategies are working best for deep integration?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

I do spend a fair bit of time tweaking prompts and polishing AI outputs, but what really clicks for me is using it to structure my messy ideas. I’ll dump a rough brainstorm—whether it’s a new product, workshop outline, or code concept—and let the AI turn it into a workable draft, then we go back and forth until it makes sense. It’s also pushed me into bigger coding projects I wouldn’t have tackled alone, since I can lean on AI for boilerplate and quick fixes. The trick is to stick with a few reliable tools and treat them as an extra pair of hands, not a magic wand.

What is your experience with it?

@shemetsberger I am trying to push it to its limits. Recently Gemini 2.5 has changed the game for me, and I have a feeling that it is becoming more like a stand alone "worker" capable of handling the high bar I set in the results I expect without me having to go through the process of blood sweat & tears myself. This is super useful for solo builders, now you can offload a lot of complex work to your robot frens.

@theo_l Exactly :) Have you already tried building with Google AI Studio? That's currently on my todo list.

@shemetsberger Yeah, it is my daily driver for now even though it bugs out after a certain amount of context, it's still great since the base model of Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview is really good for dev work! Try it, it's worth it, plus it's free. What AI do you use now?

@theo_l great to hear that — i will! a mix of gpt and gemini. and for coding I am using cursor :) anything you would recommend?

I feel like this post was speaking directly to me haha, I created promptaa.com for this exact reason. Start with a simple prompt and let AI optimize and refine it with rich and detailed context. You can also organize and re-use your prompts effectively. All feedback is welcomed, I'm building this for the community.

Thanks for raising these thoughtful questions, Theo! I’ve found that AI is starting to shift my creative workflow from linear execution to a more iterative, explorative process. Instead of just speeding up routine tasks, it’s encouraging me to experiment more boldly—trying out ideas I might have dismissed before because of time constraints. That said, I do spend a fair amount of time refining prompts and curating AI outputs, which sometimes feels like a creative dialogue rather than just editing. The real synergy happens when AI helps me uncover unexpected angles or connections that spark new directions in my work. A big hurdle is ensuring the AI’s suggestions align with my deeper vision, so I’m constantly balancing control and openness. Overall, AI feels less like a tool and more like a creative partner that amplifies my thinking, especially when I approach it with a clear goal but remain flexible in the process. Would love to hear how others are evolving their workflows with AI!
