Hello Product Hunt! Today is a huge day for me. Calorie tracking is a crowded market and Fuel represents years of refinement and consideration. I’ve worked hard to try and create something that contributes something new to the conversation.
My hypothesis (and backed by research) is that most people don't need to complicate their health. You can get a ton of benefits by focusing on 4 core pillars: Nutrition, Exercise, Hydration, and Sleep. The more people can optimize those four pillars, the more their health is likely to improve. I also wanted to make something that would be forgiving enough for people taking their kids to soccer practice or spending late nights at the office. Something made for actual human beings living their lives.
Fuel has a purpose-built food library that tracks ingredients, not just nutrition facts. This data enables the whole experience. This means people can learn more about the food they eat: allergens, sugar alcohols, seed oils, and more. This thoughtful approach guides the entire user experience.
The goal isn't to overwhelm, but invite people to peel back as many layers as they want.
Pricing is another area I’m trying to buck trends. I’ve got subscription fatigue and I know I’m not alone. So pay $12 and get everything in this version forever. When a new version comes out, upgrade for another $12 or keep what you’ve got. For anyone not ready to commit, month-to-month is available for $1. I tried not to overthink this.
This is a long-term project for me. I use the app daily and plan to support it for as long as I can. I even built an entire admin app that I can bring with me to grocery stores for keeping my food database up to date.
If you’ve wanted to take more ownership of your diet but at your own pace, consider giving Fuel a try.
