Freezetab — A powerful alternative to bookmarks for Chrome
Bookmarks are pretty terrible.
What if you want to save just a specific set of tabs (e.g. everything to the left or right of the current tab)?
What if you want a way to sort your tabs based on the domain name (e.g. view every tab you've ever saved from producthunt.com)?
These are the sort of advanced use cases that Freezetab was designed for.

Looks interesting, but needs lots more details. Does it sync with other browsers? What about mobile browser use? Privacy policy?

I haven't had an official privacy policy drafted yet, given that this is a side project. Freezetab stores all of your data locally on your own machine using Chrome's local storage api (you don't even need an internet connection to use it). In fact, I don't operate a user database at all, and I have to log in to the Chrome developer dashboard to check how many people are using the extension. I'm a big privacy advocate — your data belongs to you.
There's no browser syncing yet. Chrome's storage api offers just 5kb of synchronized storage, which isn't much. I'm definitely planning on implementing a custom backend to support syncing in the future though, and unfortunately, Chrome mobile don't support extensions.

I built this extension after years of frustration using Chrome's native bookmarks, and a variety of tab management extensions. Here are some of the highlights:
1) Freezetab is designed around the idea of tab groups rather than folders. Normally, when you bookmark a group of tabs a Chrome prompt asks you to pick a folder to place them in. If you don't have a specific folder in mind you might be tempted to dump all of your tabs into a single catch-all folder. With Freezetab, whenever you save a set of tabs they're automatically placed into their own group. This gives you a decent level of organization without any planning on your part.
2) Freezetab provides you with a plethora of ways to sort and organize your tabs. You can view your saved tabs based on the domain name (e.g. every tab from ProductHunt.com), on an interactive calendar, from A-Z and Z-A, chronological order, and from greatest to least and least to greatest.
3) Freezetab offers a variety of choices when selecting which tabs to save. You can save save all tabs, the current tab, everything except the current tab, everything to the right or left of the current tab, or specific tabs.
4) Freezetab features keyboard shortcuts for the most common actions, so you can save tabs without evening opening the extension.
