I'm a huge fan of wearables and fitness trackers, but I'm disappointed with Fitbit's refusal to cooperate with Apple HealthKit or Google Fit so that's a big obstacle for me.
Also, I'm always amused by the "leaderboard" idea. How many of your friends are also using Fitbit? Are they friends you really care about competing with or is it just your spouse and a couple of Facebook contacts that you don't really know that well? This feature always seems to be a big selling point but I can't help but assume that only a tiny percentage of their customers actually fully use the leaderboard passionately.
@jeremiahlee, I see that the Alta lacks continuous heart monitoring as with the Surge HR. My Surge HR fell apart pretty quickly and I like the slim form factor of the Alta, but is the Alta (and Flex, etc.) less accurate at counting calories?
@therobbiedshow Fitbit products have a year warranty. Contact customer support if something has broken.
Heart rate data does allow Fitbit to more accurately estimate calories burn. If that feature is important to you, you will be better served by the Charge HR or Surge.
Looks like an attractive addition to the Fitbit lineup. Was hoping for it to have Heart Rate capabilities, but I think it is the best-looking wrist option available (at least in the Fitbit lineup). Not sure if it is innovative enough for Flex or Charge users to update, but should be promising for customers looking to buy their first Fitbit.
