Fireside helps you capture and preserve loved ones' life stories. Record video/audio interviews with AI-guided prompts, access a curated question bank, and create digital and physical keepsakes. Keep memories safe and shareable, forever.
👋 Thanks for hunting us @kevin! I'm Ravi Bhankharia, the creator of Fireside, and I'm excited to share our story with you today.
Fireside was born from a powerful mission: preserving the rich, personal stories of our families before they fade away. In an era where digital noise often drowns out intimate narratives, we've created a platform dedicated to capturing, protecting, and sharing the meaningful memories of our parents, grandparents, and loved ones. Fireside isn't just a recording tool—it's a digital sanctuary where family histories can be documented, treasured, and passed down through generations.
We've packed the platform with thoughtful features to make storytelling effortless: AI-suggested questions that spark meaningful conversations, a carefully curated question bank to guide your exploration, and the ability to create physical keepsakes with QR codes that unlock digital memories. Our vision is a private, secure social experience that celebrates personal history, free from the overwhelming noise of traditional social media.
But this is just the beginning. We're building features like real-time translation to bridge language barriers with relatives, the ability to transform conversation transcripts into beautiful books, and AI-powered video editing that brings your stories to life.
💬 I can't wait to hear your thoughts and answer your questions! Thanks for checking out Fireside ❤️
I like the idea 🔥
There could also be another use case for group Meetups and interviews so that you could capture these “fireside” chats and turn them into content. Like mini podcasts 🎙️
Love that idea @derkolstad - we definitely want to extend beyond just interviewing your parents/grandparents to others in your life. The platform itself is super extensible and I'm excited to explore new avenues. Who do you think would be most invested in listening to those types of Fireside chats?
@ravi_bhankharia Chats from networking events with guest speakers. Like Meetup.com groups that have workshops yet they don’t put them online afterwards. So if you just joined, you never see the past guest chats.
Hey Ravi! I've seen you on Uneed as well. It's super cool cause I can imagine everyone of us using this. Hope many people can feel the same and wish you all the best on this impressive launch
Hey @german_merlo1, I thought your profile looked familiar - so grateful for your support on both of our launches! I hope so too, especially with the holidays coming up. It's a perfect excuse to get to know your loved ones better.
Here's a little inspiration for starting deeper conversations with your family members.
Imagine you could only ask ONE question to truly understand someone’s life story. What would it be?
@rohan_arun1, thank you! And that's a great idea, long-term we foresee a big source of competition from Apple and Google's "Memories" feature as those companies index more and more of your digital life. We definitely see an avenue where we can inspire similar story-telling opportunities from digital footprints outside the interview context. However, after doing 100+ customer interviews, the more pressing problem is tackling those of us who don't have those digital photos or videos or records - the elderly. Fireside makes it easy for that demographic to record conversations and in the future we'll add in features to upload those analog records into a digital scrapbook to keep forever.
Congrats on launching Fireside, Ravi! 🎉 The mission to preserve and celebrate family stories is so meaningful, and Fireside seems like the perfect tool to make that process effortless. Love the AI-suggested questions and QR code keepsakes—it’s such a thoughtful way to bridge generations. Excited to see how Fireside evolves with features like real-time translation and transcript-to-book functionality. What a beautiful way to keep family histories alive! ❤️📖✨
Thank you @ihuzaifashoukat! Our users love discovering stories they've never heard before, here's a few examples: One user recorded their dad's childhood stories and now has a keepsake to revisit anytime. Another captured their grandma’s immigration journey, while a family came together to create a heartfelt gift for their mom’s birthday.
I recommend Fireside to anyone who wants to preserve the important stories and memories of their loved ones! This app makes it easy to record video and audio interviews with AI that will suggest questions for conversation
@ravi_bhankharia Congratulations on launching Fireside! The concept of preserving family stories is truly valuable. However, I'm curious about how you address privacy concerns. What measures are in place to ensure that users feel secure sharing personal narratives? Looking forward to seeing how this platform evolves!
This is such a brilliant idea, especially for preserving memories. Wondering especially for older generations who are not as tech savvy but aren't in the same location, how do you capture this? And aside from Vinyls, will there be an option to make a book or something? Thanks, so cool!
Fireside sounds like a beautiful way to preserve family stories for future generations. Can you tell me more about how the AI-guided prompts work and if there are any privacy features to ensure the stories remain secure?
Hey @hritik_choudhary, great questions - when you set up your interview, we have you answer a short quiz about your loved ones (such as the important people in their lives, or big milestones), and ask you a bit more about the type of tone/topics you'd like to dig into during your interview which we then feed to a large language model to generate insightful questions that provoke deeper conversations.
Security and privacy is top of mind for us. I used to work on Amazon Alexa and at a small HIPAA-compliant startup so I have experience dealing with critical and private data. You're always in full control of what exactly is published and when and can un-publish any of your interviews at any time. In addition, all of your interview data is encrypted at rest.
