Firefox Relay makes it easy to create aliases, randomly generated email addresses that forward to your real inbox. Use it to protect your online accounts - and your identity - from hackers.
Short video showing what it's like to use Firefox Relay with and without the extension.
I like the integration with Firefox. Couldn't find an extension for Chrome unfortunately.
@janahrend So there’s a limit on how many aliases one can have? That kinda renders the service almost useless. Firefox says “Use it to protect your online accounts” but only as long as you only need to make up to 5 accounts :/
@janahrend@esurmane that’s fine but they should mention it on the landing page or at the very least in the dashboard once you’re logged in. It just tells you you can make up to 5 addresses, but doesn’t tell you how/when/if you’ll ever be able to get more.
This is something I would actually use! What I like about this is its open source as well! I'm usually not comfortable with downloaded extension plugins as I'm aware that many are malicious ones.
I like the idea of this! My current workaround for this problem is to use a combo of alt Outlook/Gmail accounts for more “spammy” newsletters that I don’t want going to my main account + various https://10minutemail.com/ accounts for one-off needs... but it would be nice to be able to manage a single inbox only.
What happens when you’ve used up the 5 aliases and gotten rid of/burned 1 of them? Will you get a replacement with the free version, or does that only come with the paid version?
It already exists elsewhere. I feel like you didn’t do market research before doing this. Been using burnermail.io and it has been great for years. What separates this from other services? Why should I use this instead?
