Launch Day is Finally Here! 🤗 We’re Max, Cam and Jon, the founders of fforward.ai, and we’ve made it 10x easier to analyze customer interviews. If you’re a product manager, product designer or startup founder, we hope you’ll give it a shot. We need your feedback and ideas so we can further improve the product. Why did we build fforward? We built fforward to help you decide what to build next, so you can build a product people love. Customer interviews give us the evidence we need to make good decisions and build products people love. But analyzing customer interviews takes forever, and we have lots of other things to do. Over the past six months, we’ve interviewed over 150 PMs, UX researchers and startup founders to understand how they analyze customer interviews and use those insights to make great product decisions. We built fforward so any product team can reveal insights in customer interviews, uncover themes across all of your interviews, and discover opportunities for your product roadmap. Here’s how it works: * Upload your interview transcripts to fforward and let fforward handle the rest * fforward will automatically pull out user needs and opportunities from your customer interviews * fforward will tell you why each opportunity is relevant to your product and give it a quality score * fforward will find common themes across groups of interviews You can use these themes to: * Prioritize your roadmap based on real evidence, not just intuition. * Generate new solution concepts based on hidden opportunities. * Facilitate conversations with product stakeholders Our ask from you today We’re thrilled to share fforward with you today, and to celebrate, we’re giving every PH user three free interview analysis credits. In return, we would love your feedback so we can continue to improve the product and build a helpful tool that people love. Please share your comments and feedback here in the comments! We also want to thank the product hunt community for inspiring us to get up and work hard every day. Seeing all of you launch so many amazing products every day motivates us to keep going, even when things are tough. Onwards!
Tornike Tsiramua
@maxcameron As a startup founder that seems quite useful and smart approach. Congratulations, well done!
Cameron Westland
@maxcameron @mohini_shewale thank you! Yes agreed! Really learning from customer stories is at the core of our product!
Max Cameron
@mohini_shewale Couldn't agree more Mohini! This is a critical activity that gets ignored by a lot of product teams. Hopefully our tool can make it easy enough for anyone to get in the habit of leading consistent customer interviews. Thank you for your support!
Max Cameron
@tornike_tsiramua1 Thansk Tornike - it's so important to discover real customer pains when you're getting a startup off the ground. A lot of founders think they have all the answers using intuition, but having real evidence to make decisions can be super useful. Appreciate your support!

Oliver Bahne
Definitely an interesting space with lots of new and exiting platforms. At Francis we use Productlane for documenting these types of interviews. Is fforward specifically targeted for customer interviews or are you targeting other parts of the funnel (e.g. discovery calls).
Cameron Westland
@francis @oliver_bahne Nice! I'll definitely check out Productlane. Customer interviews is our focus today. We want to really nail it and avoid being a jack of all trades or generic chat bot.
Oliver Bahne
@camwest_new we really like their offering, as they integrate with Linear. I think this space is incredibly overlooked by most teams, who have notes scatted all over the place. From my POV, the companies that can successfully integrate across the stack are the companies that will win this space. Would be interesting to hear where you see fforward fit into the "loop". I.e., will you product support the engineering/product/design team to align on the product roadmap, if yes, then how can I get the supporting evidence frem fforward into the hands of my developers and designers.
Cameron Westland
@oliver_bahne yes! I love this. Here are a few thoughts: 1. We generate opportunities and themes by analyzing transcripts 2. You can export those opportunities and themes but keep a link back to our system which allows you to get attribution all the way back to the original transcript 3. Using links as an integration point means that it's totally universal, you can add that to any other product immediately without requiring custom integrations. In the future we want to go deeper, but that's where we are now!
Oliver Bahne
@camwest_new interesting! I like the word "theme", if it means what i think it means. One issue that we are experiencing in Productlane at the moment is, that we link customer feedback to specific issues in Linear. However, we quickly get A LOT (150+) small issues, and it is slightly challenging to keep track of the "product themes" that are being mentioned. Linear has Projects to solve for this issue, but that is then a trade-off between double-counting feedback (on issues and projects) or having lots of smaller issues that are hard to keep track of.
Cameron Westland
@oliver_bahne yeah exactly. What fforward does it takes all those little items and embeds them in a language model, then we can use hierarchical clustering to compare them mathematically. It makes the higher level clusters WAY easier to reason about.
Peter Tovanov
Great solution! Congratulations 🎉
Dhruv Trehan
This looks great, @maxcameron. The opportunity identification looks super valuable. Does this work only with interview transcripts, or other kinds of customer interactions like email threads etc? Congratulations on the launch team!
Cameron Westland
@maxcameron @dhruv_trehan1 thanks! Right now it only works with interview transcripts. Our aim was to avoid trying to be "mile wide, inch deep" and give a really good analysis with interview transcripts!
Max Cameron
@dhruv_trehan1 Thanks for the support Dhruv - we only support user interview transcripts to generate insights. Support emails and sales calls typically lack the detail needed to generate the insights you need for really good product discovery.
Andrei Kashtanov
Wow, amazing idea! đź‘Ť It's so nice to see AI used for something interesting rather than just being a buzzword. Definitely will give it a try!
Cameron Westland
@etr_king thanks for the kind words! Agreed 100%.
Max Cameron
@etr_king Couldn't agree more. The AI startups that will be around in five years are the ones that tackle real business problems.
@maxcameron congrats!!! Can fforward create a summary that includes demographic information, key quotes, and bullet points about the interview subject?
Cameron Westland
@maxcameron @alessio_mavica our summaries focus on the individual opportunities right now but soon we'll start adding in extra fields like you mention above to give you a more comprehensive interview snapshot!
Andy Li
Congrats on the launch! Would love to try this out
Cameron Westland
@andydy25 absolutely! Can't wait to hear your feedback.
Max Cameron
@andydy25 You're welcome to try it anytime Andy! We're letting everyone in the PH community process three interviews for free. And if you want to process more, just let me know!
Germán Merlo
Hey Max! You did it. It’s launching time and you’re doing a great job here. Customer interviews are actually hard to plan, run and analyze. Thanks for helping on that key task. All the best on this journey mate
Cameron Westland
@german_merlo1 thanks for the kind words! Agreed about the pain.
Tom Orbach
Is this product bult for large enterprises? Can startups use fforward? What if I don't have a dedicated UX researcher?
Cameron Westland
@tomorbach great question! Our target user is the product manager who is a member of a product trio. They are empowered to decide what to build next and have to back it up with evidence to their stakeholders. From our own interviews we've seen product managers like that at large enterprises and startups. No need for a dedicated UX researcher.
Maria Anosova 🔥
Congratulations 🎉 What's the biggest advantage of user interviews when it comes to making product decisions?
Cameron Westland
@maria_anosova Hi Maria! The biggest advantage is that it's *REALLY* easy to convince yourself that you're building the right thing, only to waste a bunch of time. When done well, user interviews help you learn from reliable past experiences that help you decide what to build next with confidence.
Jacopo Proietti
Congrats on the launch! Does it also do the interviews transcripts (e.g. can it attend a gmeet and take notes?)
Cameron Westland
@jacopo_proietti No! We looked at the market and saw most major video apps are adding built-in functionality! You can take those transcripts and bring them straight into fforward.
Julia Doronina
Congratulations on the launch! Can fforward.ai provide deeper insights than traditional user research methods?
Cameron Westland
@julia_demyanchuk Thank you! I believe so yes. Since AI never gets tired or suffers, you typically see a lot more opportunities generated. This is important since it can uncover unique insights when compared across multiple interviews (which we do with our themes feature!)
Eyuel Daniel
Congrats on the Launch🎉. The products looks awesome
Cameron Westland
@eyucoder thanks a bunch for stopping by!
Max Cameron
@eyucoder Thanks Eyuel - really appreciate the support and all the amazing feedback from the community.
Egor Karpov
As someone involved in product development, the concept of fforward.ai seems very useful. đź‘Ť Is there a feature to integrate these insights directly into existing project management tools like notion for example?
Cameron Westland
@ekarp Yes, you can export opportunities and themes from our tool directly to a project management tool like Notion. We have deep links so you can always get back to the exact line in the transcript.
Frank Sondors
I've done 100+ customer interviews in 2023. This looks like a great product!
Cameron Westland
@franksondors Nice! What's your goal for 2024!?
Max Cameron
@franksondors That's great to hear Frank. I'm sure you've benefitted from every single one of them.
Muneeb Awan
Can fforward help identify and analyse trends across multiple user interviews to inform product development?
Cameron Westland
@muneebawan it's my favorite feature. We convert all the opportunities we identify into embeddings and then use machine learning to cluster them into themes. We then label the themes using GenAI! You definitely have to see the video above to see it in action.
Cara (Borenstein) Marin
Wow, such a cool product! Excited to try it out. What goes into computing the quality score?
Cameron Westland
@cara_jacqueline Nice! Quality is determined by a bunch of factors, like how the question was asked and answered, if the answer was a hypothetical or based on direct recent experience.
Cara (Borenstein) Marin
@camwest_new that makes a lot of sense, thanks for explaining! Direct recent experiences are always much more trustworthy.
Uladzislau Rymasheuski
Congrats on a launch! Demo looks cool - will definitely give it a try!
Cameron Westland
@rimash thank you! Appreciate your support.
Uladzislau Rymasheuski
@camwest_new Can fforward eventually conduct AI-moderated interviews and suggest lines of inquiry in real time?
Uladzislau Rymasheuski
I've tried the service. One note - there's a case when i don't decided yet to use platform or not, a just want to look around. And fforward block me on the onboarding by requiring to load transcript - i'm not ready to share transcript at this time 'cause i have not touched main functionality yet - i don't understand how everything organized inside and that can stop me from going further
Cameron Westland
@rimash I'm VERY keen on exploring this direction.
Cameron Westland
@rimash understood. Watch the video for a walkthrough of everything we offer!
Archit Navadiya
Launching soon!
Congratulations on the launch! Do you have any tips on how I can lead better customer interviews?
Cameron Westland
@archit_navadiya My favorite resource is The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick. Essentially bias (from both you and the person you're interviewing) can easily make the interview transcript unreliable. By asking about the last time someone had the problem you're trying to solve, and getting into the details of that story, you'll uncover needs and pain points much much easier and more reliably!
Garen Orchyan
Great job team. Big congrats on the launch and best of luck to you today 🦄🎉🎊
Cameron Westland
@orchyan thank you! Appreciate the support.
