There's a lot of self-loving and big claims coming from FF and for the kind of things they have been saying about their product, this is not it. As to what may happen from here, we got relatively little insight into..

@obbrobb I agree. When they were talking up the customization features, I was wondering if this is something they'll be releasing with other car manufacturers soon. Instead, they admitted to teasing us all and proclaimed they're "moving VERY fast" - they'll see us with a product in a few years (fast obviously means something different to them)

@obbrobb We're working towards it. Takes some time to do what we're trying to do and majority of our team has been at the company less than 6 months.

@sajclarke hahaha and how many times do they have to repeat these "pillars" of theirs? Just once will do, guys

@andyfortson @obbrobb I'm sure you're all a bunch of nice and ambitious folk at Faraday Future, Andy. However, no one really cares if you aren't living up to the bold claim of challenging Tesla. If you don't want to be held to such high standards then the marketing team needs to change the messaging/branding of FF
Shannon Clarke
@andyfortson @obbrobb One way to change the branding is not go on stage to announce a concept car. I personally think it's great to see a Tesla competitor enter the fray as boldly as FF has however more needs to be done to truly deliver

"Our goal was to build a car with a sixth sense for its driver's intentions and needs. One with adaptive personalization, seamless transfer of custom vehicle configurations, access to live images, and real time data visualization." --@faradayfuture team. The future is here. This car looks insane.
James Mundy
Looks beautiful but not a whole lot different from the futuristic-looking concept cars other manufacturers show off at motor shows and which never get made.
Shannon Clarke
I am disappointed and the shy applause from the audience makes me believe that most of them were as well. The fact that they said "we will..." far more than "we have done...." makes this feel even more like #vaporware than just a concept.

@sajclarke frankly, it was an awful presentation. They were emphasizing all of the wrong things. A big part of their press material was about revolutionizing mobility with autonomy and possibly even subscription service. Neither of those were mentioned in the keynote whatsoever. If it's a car for drivers (racers) then what's the point of autonomy anyway? The car showed no signs of having any of the necessary sensors to be autonomous, and they didn't go into any specifics of the business model. I still have no idea why "chinese netflix" was involved besides the founder wanting to save the planet. And they pumped it up as them having some incredible alliances. The valuable aspect of the company was their expertise and innovation on the universal chassis design, yet the demonstration product they made was entirely niche! They talked about the innovative dashboard and helmet systems, and didn't show either of them. they didn't demonstrate that this was a working prototype. I think the only saving grace of the keynote was the videos that they played (one was already on their website). The production quality was excellent and the script in the video was much clearer and specific than the keynote itself.

"More than a concept car - it is a car of concepts." ...ok?
Lenny Hu
@dustinlocke this is a great line. :)

I guess time will tell if they actually build it. Still can't bet against Elon.

I am sure the future is not on wheels.

There is that little known challenge called 'traffic'. Get me through there quickly and elegantly and it's <3 all the way.
Andy Fortson
@tomflemming We're working on it.
Kevin
The concept car is beautiful, and so is the landing page.

Faraday Future are making a lot of big promises, but there's also BIG talent in that company. Will be interesting to see what they produce over the next few years. Also looking forward to Elon's inevitable salty reaction!

I guess this is their high end early adopter car (ie. their roadster) that will give them the runway necessary to launch a more mainstream car next. The design is definitely unique and beautiful, but comes off as a bit too Formula 1 racecar to me, needs to be toned down.
Preet
@ghobs91 also a bit frustrating that they are articulating the same go-to-market as Tesla (high-end first)
Rick Kats
I've seen a car company before over promise and under deliver, oh yes they were called "Fisker" they are now in bankruptcy protection. Regardless goodluck inventing the future!
John Frye
Crazy, I've been seeing this everywhere. Kind of like the bat mobile....
Dan Rosenshain
If they intended to make me feel like I'm in a futuristic movie where there's mystery deaths, corporate corruption, and thrilling investigations by an attractive duo of a lawyerette and a security guard that just happened to be there they of the incident, they really succeeded. If not, then meh it's all basically 100% marketing blabber.

Once it begins to be something closer to Toyota's i-Road then it will start to get interesting. http://blog.toyota.co.uk/toyota-...

The future is driverless

Looks super cool, but hope it is more than just ideas.

Does anyone besides Faraday Future think there's anything here? To me it looks like concept art from 2003. Far from the "Tesla killer" the media was making it out to be. If that was their impression, they don't understand Tesla's intent.
Matt Coleman
This presentation was pretty painful – and I really hope they decide against docking your smartphone in the steering wheel. :) Much more intrigued by the other car silhouette they briefly showed.
