Fantastic resource πŸ™Œ congratz @clominson πŸ˜„
Rich Clominson
@bntzio Thank you very much for your kind words, and we are really looking forward to adding your fabulous interview!
Cioaca Virgil
I'm not a fan of this kind of "learn from failure" stories because you can't actually learn anything practical. Not even founders know exactly why they failed, they just assume and sometimes they get to wrong conclusions. For example the Addressbin story... the reason for failure is stated as "nobody wanted an easy way to grab emails". Wrong! Drip, ConvertKit and many others do the same thing and they bootstrapped, so people want that...the issue was that the founder lack of motivation, funds and knowledge to market a product in a competitive space. This is usual on tech founders who love to write code(like me) and when it comes to marketing, things get rough.
Rich Clominson
@virgilci Hi Cioaca. I totally understand what you said and we are currently working on the next Failory update, which will add to each interview a conclusion explaining the precise cause of failure and which will go along with an article that will explain how to prevent such problem. I hope you will then find Failory more useful and thanks for your feedback!
eboy
Cool. I wish this was an app.
Rich Clominson
@eboy Maybe in the future...
Brett Williams
Congrats on the launch, and for using Hue (https://www.gethue.co/) for your logo! Great idea, and well executed. πŸ‘
Rich Clominson
@brettwill1025 Thanks Brett! Hue helped us a lot. We will requiere more design work in the future.
Andrew Richard
Went over 4 articles and I most say they were really helpful
Rich Clominson
@basictechy Awesome! Remember to suscribe to the newsletter to keep updated on the latest additions. Amazing things are coming...

Nice resource! Just a tip, you may want to focus a bit more on the readability. The type size is rather small (14pt). Also, there seems to be some styling issues on OSX Chrome (the top headings are crammed into a small width) ;)
Rich Clominson
@axertion Thanks you very much for your feedback. We will enlarge the type size soon. We are also working in polishing the website and making it more user-friendly.
Mikee Shattuck
Add bigger stories like: lily drone, vine, yahoo πŸ˜‰
Rich Clominson
@mikee_shattuck Awesome idea! I have just wrote it down in our priority list. It is definitely coming in a future update. Thank you very much!

This is a great hunt! Have always kept myself busy finding such stories around. This helps a lot of people to do a reality check before even starting up. :D
Rich Clominson
@kireetivarma We are glad to hear you like it and we hope it makes your life easier!
SIDNEY SWENSON πŸ“±
I think this would actually be very informative. Always good to learn from mistakes.
Rich Clominson
@sidneyswenson_ Thanks Sidney! Don't forget to bookmark the site and suscribe to our newsletter to keep updated on the latest additions.

Great idea @clominson. I'll read through the interviews you have listed. Learning is a life long pursuit!

Any chance we could get an RSS feed?
Rich Clominson
@apples_over_oranges Yes! We are thinking on doing it soon. We will contact you once its done.
Robby Reid Morgan
Good reading for those that want to create a startup. How did you go about finding and interviewing these entrepreneurs @clominson ?
Rich Clominson
@robbyreindeer Hi Robby. To get the first interviews we read lots of failed startups articles and contacted the entrepreneurs. Luckily they were all willing to join the Failory community.
Futi
Thanks for making this! Where's the give away button?
Rich Clominson
@futi Thank you for the kind words! The giveaway button is in the NavBar. Luck!
Futi
@clominson Thank you! I don't think it shows up on mobile. On another note is making a podcast and/or the interviews available in audio format a part of Failory's roadmap?
Rich Clominson
@futi Yes we are definitely doing a podcast in the near future. Suscribe to our newsletter to keep updated on the latest news! Thanks for the feedback.
Dario D
Great website! Always good to learn from others mistakes. Quick question, how do you start an interview? Do you personally contact these entrepreneurs asking for an interview, @clominson?
Rich Clominson
@ddouble7 I am glad to hear you like Failory. In order to get the first interviews, we personally contacted different entrepreneurs and asked them whether they had a failed startup. If you would like to be interviewed you only have to submit your email in the submit page and we will contact you soon!
Dario D
@clominson A good source of failed startups could be Startup Graveyard, there is a good list where you can contact all the founders of these fail companies. The website gets constantly updated: https://www.producthunt.com/post...
Rich Clominson
@ddouble7 Thanks for the resource! I will take it a look.
Helen Larsen
Cool idea! It's so useful and entertaining. And there is so many different topics and examples. Great!
Rich Clominson
@pro_larsen Thanks for your support. There will be even more different topics in the future. Keep updated!
Renee Sandefur
Wow, this looks like a great resource! We are so often looking to what the top guys "did right" that we totally forget to look at the pitfalls we need to avoid. Looking forward to some more interviews! You should submit this to Startup Stash if it isn't there already
Rich Clominson
@renee_sandefur Thanks for your feedback. Don't forget to bookmark and suscribe to our newsletter to keep updated on the latest additions. Also, thanks for your recommendation. I have just submitted Failory to Startup Stash. Hope they approve it!
Jamie Williams
Great idea! People like to get inspired by success stories but it is crucial to also know what went wrong and learn from past mistakes. Thanks, guys!
Rich Clominson
@jamwilly420 Thank you for your feedback!
Rich Clominson
Hey, I am the cofounder of Failory! I have many ideas for the site and lots of interviews to publish. Feel free to ask me any questions!
Sean Murphy
@clominson what are the three (or more) most common mistakes?
Rich Clominson
@sean_murphy Hi Sean, thanks for your question! The 3 most common mistakes are usually lack of time, developing a product that nobody need (so we can say no validation of ideas) and problems to monetize it. Hope you find Failory useful!
Sam Rye
@clominson what are the main differences to Startup Graveyard?
Rich Clominson
@samrye_enspiral In Failory we interview the failed startup owners. In Startup Graveyard they summarized the causes of failure in each company. I personally recommend you both websites, as well as Indie Hackers!

We recently launched failureline.com and failureline aims to provide a platform where users can document their failure and success stories in a timeline format. These timelined stories can be a private diary to the user or shared with the world so that people can learn from their failure or success. You are most welcome to share some stories there :)
