@jessearmstrong I think they just found a way to make (heavy) users pay - because they could. Now it's up to us to decide whether to stick with Evernote or switch...
@demitrismemos in a way yes, but heavy users would already have to pay because they would almost certainly have hit their sync bandwidth limits. But they didn't just attempt to convert their free users into paid users, they also raised the price for everyone at the same time. A terrible choice. If they wanted to raise the price they should never have paired it with the showstopping limitation on the free tier. They could have added the restriction on the free tier (and of course people would still be angry) and held off on the price hike for 6 months or a year. Increasing the price by 50% at the same time is just turning the knife in the wound. Let's alienate ALL of our users at the same time, great strategy.
@jessearmstrong I've been a paying member for a long time and had some issues with their lack of improvements (still no markdown support, decent cross OS font system, better search). But since May, I have 2 corrupted notes. Support is basically just saying, feel free to recover the notes manually from the history. Terrible.
Evernote just launched a brand new look on the web; bringing them more up to date with their desktop apps.

Absolutely love Evernote. Use it for work and personal use and that is easy with the ability to make notebooks. Tags are super helpful as is annotating a document or editing a picture with Skitch. Makes my life easier and more organized!
Evernote is a platform that allows you to organize, store, share and then search your information. Evernote impacts a business's productivity by streamlining the collection and distribution of critical information by enhancing its retrieval. Evernote's gives your business enhanced control of the information you own or information already collected by your employees. It's your business. It's your information.
Pros:
Data management. Saving, finding, and sharing data is really easy. You may organize your info as you want, and find it when you need it.
Well, I really fell in love with Evernote, but it keeps making our relationship hard as much as possible. Managing your notes is such a hard thing to do. Desktop app? I prefer the web-app. Sync across all devices? Well, sometimes. Adding a note to the right category? Nah, it adds to a random one.
Don't get me wrong. Evernote used to be a great boost in my worklife, but it's not evolving ever since. And the visual update is not a functionality update, sadly.
Friendship with Evernote has ended, now Notion 2.3 is my friend.
Have always needed a note taking app that is not just saving pages in a grid or list view but actually organises them into notebooks & is not as bulky as a OneNote. Evernote is just right one.
Pros:
- Simplicity
- Rich text editing
- Robust apps- both on mobile & desktop
Evernote works perfectly and meets all requirement but it isn't related to time tracking. Fortunately, it isn't a problem as I use TMetric time tracking application which easily integrates with Evernote and these two are amazing. https://tmetric.com/integrations...
