Whether you practice intermittent fasting, religious fasting, or you just want to cut down on your late night snacking, Empty is the companion app to help you fast (and eat) with intention.
It's been such a joy working with @rafsoh on Empty over the past few months!
🔨🔨🔨
We've put attention into every little detail and talked with hundreds of testers to make sure we deliver all of the features you'd expect from a great fasting app and more. 😻
If you're one of those people who's been receiving constant follow-ups from me in your Twitter DMs, I can't thank you enough. The app simply wouldn't be what it is without your feedback.
🤔 · Why did we build Empty?
We originally started building Empty out of our own need. When I decided to restart my intermittent fasting practice at the start of 2024, I felt like everything on the App Store was bloated with unnecessary features and upsells.
Instead of making our app "free" and thinking of clever ways to convert users to premium, we decided just to make it a paid app so that you can get the full experience with no ads or locked features.
This week Empty is just $1. You buy it and it's yours forever, and we really hope you get great value for your investment.
💬 · We still want more feedback!
We know that launch day is also the best day to find out how a product can be even better, and we're ready for the floodgates to open!
Hit us up any time on Twitter or via email. We always try to be as responsive as possible. 🫶
Beautiful and clean app! Well done for creating an app for this purpose. Also a great time you've decided for your launch! What specific features do you offer in your app? Curious to know.
@hosseinyazdi thanks Hossein! Honestly we just stuck to the basics, and tried to do them well. Scheduling, editing, adding old fasts, notifications, etc.
We have live activities and widgets too!
Hey Raffi, congrats on the launch of Empty! It's refreshing to see a straightforward, one-time purchase app in a sea of subscriptions. The focus on user feedback is commendable. I'm curious, what's one feature you're particularly proud of in Empty that sets it apart from other fasting apps? Keep up the great work, can't wait to give it a try!
@alex_dulub it was definitely time to try this business model since I love it so much as a consumer. There are truly no *unique* features in this app, it's all been done before. But what I love most and think sets Empty apart is our UX architecture and the hierarchy of information we provide to people. We're always trying to meet the user exactly where they are and will continue to iterate the product until we do for everyone.
@khlebobul no way!!! We're so glad you've been following along and get to take it for a spin now :) hit us up any time with your thoughts and feature requests please.
No subscription! No in-app purchases. One-time payment to use this awesome fasting app. I wish more apps had this simple yet beautiful and thoughtful design. Don’t even get me started on the haptic feedback - feels great. One of my top apps this year 🔥 highly recommended.
@itaih finally!!!! 🥳
We're gonna keep making it better for you Itai. Thanks for all of the feedback you've given so far. I know you're dying for the ⌚ app lol
Hey @raffichill I like Empty Fasting's new approach, the interface is sleek too!
Have you thought about integrating behavioral nudges to enhance user commitment? Perhaps a feature that suggests optimal fasting times based on user habits and goals, including a feature for water intake would be great too!
@aayush_kniru thanks Aayush! We do have nudges in the form of notifications. As for water tracking, we're just trying to stay 100% focused on the timing component for now before going into other areas since there's still so much to improve there and people have all sorts of variation in their practice.
Hi guys, I did fasting often in summer and didn't eat something for breakfast. In winter during my hockey season it's almost impossible, because I feel so hungry all the time. In average almost burn 3000 calories a day and so I need food to feel comfortable. Will check your app after my hockey season ;) Good luck and congrats for your launch!
@jopie you definitely don't need this app if you've already solidified your habit! Some people like using apps either to build new habits or track existing ones with more detail. I'm personally in between. Somethings I find worth tracking, others not. But as a novice with intermittent fasting I like having a timer running for accountability.
Empty has been such a fantastic tool. I've got like 26 fasts tracked with it and it just keeps getting better (functionality and polish wise). More than that, Empty and fasting has helped me to kick my late evening snacking and eating habit and I feel like it has attributed to better sleep.
Such a simple and single purpose product. Well done! And I'm just surprised that @raffichill still responds to all my product feedback DMs. 😂
@tprimke Hey Thorban, thank you for supporting the app since the very beginning. Really hope we've met your expectations thus far; we will strive to continue delivering :)
I've been testing the app for a bit and just love its simplistic approach to fasting. @rafsoh and @raffichill's attention to detail is phenomenal. You've got to try out the app just for the haptic feedback.
@raffichill and I first connected over our shared love for minimal, focused mobile apps; it only made sense that we built one of our own.
Empty is the product of a 2.5 month sprint: countless Figma prototypes, scrappy implementations, beta builds, and rapid iterations. I sincerely hope Empty will empower you to kickstart and maintain a healthy intermittent fasting habit 🫶
Congrats @raffichill! It was fun jamming together on the landing page. The app is super focussed and easy to use. I love all the micro interactions and attention to detail. Super impressive you bootstrapped this. Can't wait for more people to try it out.
Day one and it’s just so brilliantly simple and useful. I have completed my 13hr fast today with the help and guidance of Empty Fasting! Definitely worth it
Looks beautiful! I've just been using an alarm up until now but Empty might be time to change it up. Love that you've taken a very personal approach from what *you'd* want as a user - excited to see what the future holds.
