Hey PH fam! 👋

I'm absolutely BUZZING to bring Eddie AI 2.0 to the global tech & startup community today! 🎬✨

Since the original launch in 2024, the founding team has been obsessively talking to customers daily, iterating and crafting the ultimate AI assistant for video pros who actually create video - not just dabble in it.

Video editing nightmares are real. We've all been there: drowning in hours of footage, wrestling with complex timelines, missing deadlines. Eddie AI 2.0 is the game-changer video professionals have been waiting for.

What makes Eddie 2.0 special:

✂️ Create rough cuts in SECONDS - What used to take hours happens instantly

🎬 Log A & B rolls in ONE CLICK - Organized into bins with searchable metadata

🎙️ Podcast multicam edits AUTOMATICALLY - The right angle at exactly the right moment

🚀 Create viral social clips FAST - Punchy edits on the topics you want

⏱️ Saves 10+ hours a month on editing (imagine what you could do with that time!)

I've tested it extensively (my own editing time has literally been cut in half), and the results are mind-blowing. Fast Company even called it "one of the best editing tools out there"!

With 10,000+ happy customers already seeing 4x content output, Eddie AI 2.0 proves it's built for serious video pros and their workflows. Compatible with all major editing platforms, available for Mac (M1 & Intel) and Windows.

The best part? There's a completely FREE tier to get you started. Power users can unlock expanded access at just $25/month or go Pro for $100/month with unlimited projects. There's also a special 50% discount code (just enter: PHEDDIE in checkout) available exclusively for early users like you from Product Hunt.

Thanks so much for hunting us,@thisiskp_ !

What a time to be alive where you can have a big dream and birth it into reality. I feel grateful for all the users since we launched and their feedback - much of it fed into this v2 launch. 🎥🥂

We had to do some real hacking at LLMs🤖 to make this version possible. Specifically the problems are that LLMs aren't built for video story crafting. Story quality degrades over longer durations. And the context window problem is very real when you have hours of footage.

I am happy for the technical milestones we achieved to get Eddie v2.0 out today.

And I'd love for you to try it and let me know what you think.

I deeply believe that if we save you time and from tedious work, humans will go do more creative and innovative and interesting work.

Unfortunately there's a lot of tedium in post production!

And that makes it perfect for Eddie!

Eddie takes days of work and reduces it to minutes. 🤯

Download Eddie for Macs and Windows, and let me know what you think.

Raqib Nur

@thisiskp_  really love it, Congratulations on the launch!

Kate Ramakaieva

Grats @thisiskp_ and @shamirallibhai on the launch. How does it compare to Final Cut Pro in terms of pricing and features? :)

Shamir Allibhai

@thisiskp_ @kate_ramakaieva Eddie is kind of incomparable to existing video editing applications like Final Cut Pro. The reason is those tools are manual: you need to make edits yourself. With Eddie: you tell Eddie the story and Eddie does the editing.

Eddie gets to a great edit fast.

Then if you need to polish the edit in FCP, Eddie sends that edit there (or to Adobe or to Resolve) in 1 click.

So with Eddie you save hours or days of work. And it is still complementary to FCP. :)

Hope that helps.

Nika

For the moment I thought that George Clooney is acting in the video. That guy is quite similarly-looking. 😅 BTW, nice-nailed video.

KP
@busmark_w_nika haha I agree! Shamir is quite the handsome actor / founder. As a friend, I can say his passion for both film making and tech is infectious :)
Raghavendra Devadiga

Eddie is super cool. I tried it last month and I am planning to edit my upcoming short film on this. Thanks for the version update. :)

Jon Wesselink

AI enthusiast and documentarian here...

First impression is that its unclear what you get with free leading me to think its just a demo that I'll need to delete later. You can only sign up with google after you download and open the program. I was trying to test if you can simply cut the "uhms" and pauses, like advertised, but looks like the tool only offers specific workflows like chopping podcasts into tiktoks.

It even asked me to choose my video length (mine was 5mins) so I chose "7 mins" because I didnt want it to remove any information between 3 and 7 and 10 mins.

Looks like it writes an AI outline then if you like it, it auto-cuts it.

This is useful, but I guess I wanted more control and options from the outset - not a one-click bottled limited choice of a few workflows. but maybe my expectations were wrong - I can see a podcaster wanting to pick one of these and move onward without thinking.

I asked: "just cut the "uhm" and pauses. maintain the video content."

It actually asked me (in GPT chat form) if i wanted to try and stick to 7mins or focus on cutting the "uhms". Awesome!

Result: looks like it didn't cut any "uhms" at all, and made weird cuts between sentences because it wanted to reshuffle it when I told it not to I guess. So it made cuts as per its "story rewriting" which for me, makes me fear losing some soundbites I wanted to make sure I didn't lose.

The app itself is a chat interface side by side with a video program monitor result + clickable sentences matched to video segments. Looks like they suggest questions to keep it guided in the chat but also lets you write stuff but it doesnt really follow the instructions off my one first try.

EDIT 2: I actually can type and edit the video based on words (what I wanted) - but this feature is "coming soon". So this launch is not quite ready. Also, you have to edit in sections one at a time (intro, section 1, 2, 3). There's no button to just move onto the next section, so It asks me what i want to do, giving options as sentences, then I have to type "1. use this section despite it being too long" making me read each one trying to guess which will let me move onward...

I hope this helps, overall my experience was a bit confused and skeptical and im not sure how I can get that control and certainty that I want from a tool like this! Great luck with the launch and do not give up :D

Shamir Allibhai

Hi @jonwesselink

Thanks for trying this out. And thank you for the thoughts and feedback.

You mentioned you're a documentarian -- this is a GREAT use case for Eddie. But it seems you didn't use it on that type of example, such as cutting together numerous interviews.

There are many, many video use cases, such as documentaries, corporate videos, and music videos.

For focus, we have chosen talking-head videos today, such as where you have numerous interviewees and you then want soundbites from them that are coherently cut together into a story. (Documentaries are usually this.)

Next our core focus is on the beginning part of the process to get to a rough cut. This means making sense of the hours of source footage and then identifying soundbites, creating a story framework, and then editing chapter by chapter. Removing filler words is not part of this; removing filler words is later on in the process. Saying that, yep Eddie can be clearer about what it can and can't do in rough cut mode. BTW Eddie automatically removes filler words when in social media mode.

Do you mean the text-based editing feature is coming soon? Yes.

Also there are buttons so you can just click to move to the next section when in rough cut mode.

I'd be curious to hear what you think if you try it on interviews that you wanted a rough cut story out of.

Jon Wesselink

@shamirallibhai Shamir, thank you for your reply. I have a better grasp of your perspective now. Onboarding tech customers can be challenging, and it’s easy to overlook how they might navigate workflows in unexpected ways. I hope my initial assumptions coming from a fresh viewpoint after reading your landing page and trying things out proved helpful :)

I totally see how this could help people craft a narrative from a jumbled bucket of media. :D

Shamir Allibhai

@jonwesselink sorting the jumbled bucket of media is the most boring/painful/{add your own adjective} part of the process! :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Sharath Kuruganty

As a podcaster(who hates editing) I can already see how Eddie is going to massive save me time!

Question: When you say automatic multicam edits, is Eddie going to convert one angle recording into multiple? If yes that's magic!

Jacob Muchow

@5harath That would be crazy!! 🤯

Eddie doesn't generate new content, he's more there just to help you with editing what you already shot! So if you shot a multicam, like for a podcast, Eddie can sync all that footage then pic out the right angle at the right time. He does that for the full video so you can export that to Premiere or what have you. Or you can use the editing/cutting features after that if you want to get some quick soundbites or something like that!

Ash
Was here for Eddie 1.0 and I’m SO here for V2! My new feature from the list is the podcast multicam edits. And of course the social edits and quickly cropping for the right platform saves so much time. Keep on shipping some great stuff team!!
KP

Thanks Ash! Love to see you track the progress since 1.0

Shamir Allibhai

@ashamplifies thank you!! It's still day 0 here. Lot mo' shippin' gonna be happenin'.

Louis Mille
I was looking for a tool like this for a long time!
Robbie Janney

@louis_mille1 Glad you found us, Louis!!

Congrats on your launch. AI is getting more and more interesting 🤩 love to try it out and recommend it to my friends.

Shamir Allibhai

@sepidy thank you! let me know any suggestions/feedback.

Jacob Muchow

Hello, I am one of the creators and lead software engineer for Eddie AI 👷 👋

We 'launched' the first version of Eddie officially last October. We were stunned at the reception to Eddie and excited about how much this resonated with our audience. I was stunned that my code was working 😉

The first version of Eddie was quite simple. Straightforward chat UI, one file per project, Eddie transcribes it and can help you cut it up - but it was just a seedling of an idea. This 2nd launch is the culmination of so many new developments to Eddie over the last many months. ⭐ Multiple sources per project, multi-camera & podcast edits, A & B-roll logging, and new versions of the AI to help craft even better stories for rough cuts or social media. We've gone all-in on native desktop apps to make processing ultra-fast and integrate really tightly with professional workflows.

Eddie has evolved substantially, but on the team we all know that this is still JUST the beginning. I'm excited for the Product Hunt community to try out Eddie 2.0 and get your feedback.

If you have used Eddie before, try out the new Rough Cut mode in the desktop app and let us know what you think! This new UX was inspired by some great AI products like v0.dev that engender an experience of creating and iterating on a project together with an AI companion. Eddie will take you through a series of steps to create a 3-10min rough cut from your project following a customizable story framework. Soon we will allow you to cut together multiple multi-cams even! We believe this experience will be the foundation from which we build out Eddie's capabilities. Give it a shot and let us know what you think!

Of course, I'm free here to answer any product or tech questions you might have. Happy editing 📽️

Robbie Janney

Hi Product Hunt!

I'm Robbie, the head of Content and Community at Eddie AI. Man, what a ride it was to get to this point. When we released Eddie last year, I was blown away at the response we got from the video professional community - they loved what we built, and kept asking for more. And today, we're happy to deliver a new slate of incredible tools for them to make their workflows faster than ever before.

I've been a video professional for just about the entirety of my career, so, slightly selfishly, I've been helping develop these new features because they are things i've been wanting in my own workflow since I began creating and editing video.

These new features were built by a team of video industry veterans and extremely talented AI scientists and software engineers. We’re interdisciplinary, and for good reason - one of our core principles as a team is that if we are to truly create a powerful AI assistant for video pros, it’s not going to be created by a bunch of mathematicians sitting in a basement guessing what video professionals want. It’s going to happen with creatives and scientists partnering together to create something both useful and valuable to video creators.

Our rough cut mode is a testament to that principle. We realized that a great video story doesn't just happen in a click. It's subjective - what a good story is can be entirely different between two people. So, I went back to my film school days, and thought of the core principles of storytelling I was taught in Video Production 101 - the heroes journey, the story circle, and the other frameworks that are at the base of most stories told. That created the thought - "What if Eddie created stories according to this framework"?

So, the AI team and I went heads down for about a month developing Rough Cut Mode. We pushed LLMs to the limits to be able to craft a story out of such a large amount of information. We developed what we call the "Eddie Contract", which is the story framework the creator iterates with Eddie on in text before the cut is delivered. This has brought a meaningful increase in the story quality that Eddie delivers.

Our A and B roll logging tool is also another thing i've been dreaming of as a video professional, and i'm proud to be able to bring it to the community. I can't count the amount of times I have been in the edit bay wasting time searching for a b-roll clip that is lost in a sea of C0021.MOV's, and combing through hours of interview footage to find a suitable soundbite. Now, all of that is meticulously organized in your editing software in just one click.

These features take the slog away from the edit bay. The non-creative work that has to happen before you get to the fun part of video storytelling.

We've got one goal as a team - saving video professionals time. Time is an incredibly valuable asset to our community. With this new slate of features in Eddie AI 2.0, i'm excited to see how much time we save you.

Joel Funk

Super cool product. I can see this being a goto tool for cutting interviews. Very smart to highlight this use case in your marketing. Enriching the metadata is genius. I could see EddieAI being a good acquisition for any of the big video editing suites. Best of luck!

Eddie 2.0 is an absolute game-changer for video editing! I’ve tested it extensively, and my editing time has literally been cut in half. The ability to create rough cuts in seconds, log A & B rolls with one click, and automate podcast multicam edits is mind-blowing.

What really stands out is how effortless it makes the whole process. Instead of spending hours manually cutting and organizing footage, Eddie AI does the heavy lifting—meaning more time for creativity and less time stuck in the grind. The viral social clip feature is also a huge plus, making it super easy to generate punchy, shareable content in no time.

With 10,000+ users already seeing 4x content output, it’s clear this tool is built for serious video pros. Fast, intuitive, and compatible with all major platforms—definitely a must-try for anyone looking to streamline their workflow!
