Drooid - Whole truth with news summaries from multiple viewpoints
Drooid provides quick, unbiased news summaries by pulling information from multiple sources. The idea is to show different perspectives so you can get a complete picture of what’s happening, with no bias and no fluff.

@swapnil_karale Congrats on the launch! Can we customize news sources or are they chosen for us?
@433_frederic_ch At the moment, customising news sources is not available. We will add them in the next release. However, we cite every news article and group the similar ones together.
As exciting as this sounds unfortunately the play store says "This app is not available for your device" (nothing 2a) :/
@sahithkrishna_an Hey Sahith, Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will fix it soon. And get back to you. Thanks for your patience.
Love the idea. That's what we need in the digital age..
@stefaniya_sparysheva Thanks, Stefani. My team and I have put a lot of effort into building Drooid.
In an era of information overload, shortening long new articles into 60-word summaries can reduce the burden of consuming news. But for news with large amounts of information, how does Drooid maintain comprehensiveness in its summaries?
@feliciana_liu We rank all the information, make groups of information sources based on how similar they are to each other, and remove redundancies. Then, write them most comprehensively without compromising on the details and readability of the summaries.

Congrats on the launch, Swapnil! Drooid addresses a need in the landscape by offering clear summaries various sources. Excited to see how people benefit from a more balanced approach to news.
@jun_zhao3 Thanks, Jun., for your kind words. We aim to combat media bias. If our user can see things clearly out of their eco-chambers, they can form their better-informed opinions quickly. Today, with so much noise and everyone being busy, Drooid aims to provide them the complete picture fast.

Drooid sounds like a solid solution for anyone tired of one-sided news.
@felixgerlach You are on the point, Felix. Thanks.
The summary format avoids lengthy content and information overload, catering to the needs of modern fast-paced living. Can news from around the world be seen on it?
@evakk Yes, Evan. You can follow news around the world. In addition to that, you get additional information about any entity (Person, Event, Organisation, etc). So you get more context compared to any other news platform available in the market. While doing this, our main focus is on keeping it crisp and avoiding information overload for the users. Thanks for your comment. It allowed me to talk about things that are not on our front page.
@swapnil_karale All the best for your launch :)🚀
@evakk Thanks, Eavan. I hope you like using Drooid. I would appreciate any feedback after you have used it for a week or two.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I really love the 60-word summary feature. By the way, can I view news articles by selecting different countries?
@kay_arkain Kay Kwak, at the moment, we don't have an option to select countrywise news, however, you can choose a topic or an entity (Person, Place, Organisation) you want to read a news about. Plus, we have built a search function so you can look up any information that interests you.
Will there be a way for educators to customize content for class discussions?
@naseer_kahn Naseer, currently, we don't have that option. But maybe in the future, we can provide Educators with some APIs. Suppose we want to help educators how should we do that, I am open for suggestions.
Great work, I would love to consume news that is neutral. Do these summaries use full articles from sources that are behind a paywall? All the best!
@monaal_sanghvi Yes, we get content behind the paywall
@terrence_kelleman Thanks, Terrence. I’m not a veteran like you, but I can understand where you come from.
I realized I had started relying more and more on Twitter for news, and it was only reinforcing my own bias. When I looked at the broader media landscape, it became clear that many news publishers were just pushing one side of the story, often tied to a particular agenda.
I didn’t set out to build a news app, I just wanted to consume information that wasn’t filtered through a single lens.
Unbiased news aggregation is refreshing! Great job! 👀
@shenjun Thanks, Jun.
I loved the idea, unfortunately was not accepted as an intern in the initial steps of Drooid, but am proud of the product as it comes to existence.
I'm subscribed to multiple newsletters in order to get news from different perspectives. This could clean up my inbox so much. 🤩
Have you thought of doing a newsletter for this? I've got so many apps on my phone that I usually forget about the ones that aren't really necessary. But I check my email everyday, which is why newsletters have worked for me so far...
