I wish there was a persistent call to action on the desktop website. As I'm scrolling down through the features I should just be able to click something that takes me to the App Store. When I got down to the bottom of the landing page, I fully expected the Download on the App Store image to be clickable. It wasn't, but the Mac App Store button was clickable.
That product video is blazing fast. I'm really not sure what was even happening after two watches. I think I might like this but I can't tell from the video.
This is based off the Apple Reminders, is that correct? Is there any integration w/ platforms like Todoist, Wunderlist, Any.do, Google Keep?
@as_austin Thanks for the feedback Austin! It's a bit fast right now to fit the 30-second limit on the App Store, but it could definitely be slower. The goal was to show key features in motion: editing, checklists, collaboration, the list, and card stack gestures.
Doo isn't based on iOS reminders. It's an independent app. There's no integration with other to-do apps since, well, they're my competition.
Integration with things like calendars is something I'm paying attention to and want to investigate. I want to be sure it's done well and in a way that enhances the experience without trying to duplicate all the same functionality. A great example of this would be to show time conflicts with items in your calendar.
@mciarlo That sounds great! Thanks for the clarifications. I was under the assumption it was framed as a better ios reminders built on the back of iOS reminders. (Which I was really confused on)
THANK YOU for the clarifications! I understand now. Great usage of cards! 👍
It looks like a lot of the features are already available in native iOS reminders & notes (checklists, collaboration, etc). The UI even looks very similar.
@jamescampbell I think the list of features may be similar, but the user experience is much different :) The iOS reminders app is list based, which right of the bat is an issue.
Typical to-do lists produce anxiety and stress. It’s easy to be overwhelmed staring at a list of things to do without knowing where or how to start. There’s no way to develop better habits. People often create tasks that are easy to procrastinate because they don’t have a clear first step or a single objective. Doo's entire interface is designed break free of these common pitfalls. And it all starts with the cards.
There are some details inside the app you might not notice. For example, checklist collaboration will live update ten seconds after you stop typing. This gives Doo a level of utility not seen in previous versions while preserving precious battery.
For those of you just finding Doo for the first time, here is a side-by-side with the old version. I'm constantly amazed at how much the app has grown. https://pic.twitter.com/WeERWViu0e
Hi everyone! My name is Mike and I’m back on Product Hunt after a year of work on my reminders app Doo.
Doo 2 is a major relaunch with big new features and a polished new design. The original Doo had a lot of potential. I see today as an opportunity for others to see that potentially more fully realized.
The biggest new features in Doo 2 are reminder collaboration, locations, and checklists. These were actually some of the biggest requests I received, so I’m excited to finally get them out into the world 🚀 Checklists especially, combined with collaboration, add a new level of utility that didn’t exist before.
Another exciting announcement is that Doo is nominated for two Webby Awards: Best Productivity App and best Visual Design – Function. I remember submitting Doo for consideration thinking it would never happen. The fact that Doo even got nominated is an honor.
My plan for 2017 is to continue adding new features, including Apple Watch support. I want to make Doo the most effective, beautiful app I can while preserving the simplicity that people love. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received so far and am looking forward to seeing where Doo is in another year.
Thanks for reading 😀
-Mike
Oh, I forgot to mention one thing: there's an App Preview video on the Doo website and on the App Store for anyone who might want a better sense for how the app works 📱
@krlospx Yes, but slightly tweaked because there's no concept of projects.
Doo is designed to solve the common causes of procrastination. You create tasks with a single, clear objective that’s easy to start and easy to finish. Cards show up in a stack instead of a list so you can focus on one thing at a time.
The primary interface supports what I call the Doo workflow. Pick a few tasks to accomplish for the day and snooze the rest. You can basically go through your stack and swipe down on anything that you know you won't get to today. The workflow helps people create more disciplined and sustainable habits.
@mciarlo Thanks for the reply :)
Although you answered to @as_austin that others to-do apps are your competior I can see an integration with service like todoist, any.do… For example, I send from todoist to Doo. Doo stay on mac menu bar, I choose the order, only have access to my current task and can track how much time I’m spending on that.
Anyway, Doo 2 looks beautiful and well designed. I will take a look.
Congrats :) ... Beautiful app, I also developed a Reminder App (Mindle Reminder App) but my approach is very different, I developed the entire app by keep focus on important matters and quick usage. Please visit my page https://www.producthunt.com/post...
This looks like a great idea, but in order for it to be one of the best solutions out there I feel like it would have to be cross-platform. There should be a Windows/Mac OS app or Chrome extension so that you can create reminders on your phone and work on them + follow up on the computer.
But the app works perfectly! :) I see this going a long way...
