Hey!
I'm Marcel, the hooman who built Docko and I think we should make software fun again. Remember those good old Windows tools (that were bloated with malware 😅)?
Let's try and capture that era again - without the malware hah
If you ever wanted to have your own cat or dock just chilling in your macOS dock, or even running around on your screen - this app is for you.
I usually set my macOS dock to be hidden by default, but I gotta admit, seeing a cute cat (or dog) in the Dock is actually pretty fun and relaxing.
In a way Docko became my rubber duck debugging friend.
Feel free to try out the app, it's free to download on the macOS app store!
Let me know what you think :)
Docko became a delight addition to my macOS experience! Having a virtual pet is not only fun but also it adds a personal touch to my workspace. It is also quite entertaining. It’s a great way to lighten up the mood while working. It has brought a bit of joy to my MacOS
@aishwaryalohi I thought about this but ultimately I didn't want it to become too much like a Tamagotchi so that its just cute and cozy - not time consuming and potentially annoying 😅
This is pawsitively adorable, Marcel! 🐾 Docko brings back those nostalgic vibes in the best way—fun, lighthearted, and malware-free 😂 Love how you’ve turned something as simple as the dock into a little moment of joy. Definitely downloading to add a chill companion to my dev days. Major props for making software fun again! 💻🐱✨
I’m so happy we’re seeing more fun and cute products like this lately! I love it — and it’d be awesome to have even more pets to choose from, like more cats or dogs! Super cool idea!
INSTANT INSTALL. I have been waiting for this since you teased it on X, @marcelpociot! Already have had my doggo on my Mac non stop. Can we collab to get a PH kitty version 🥺
Seriously though, nicely done. This is so fun and like what the internet (and computers) need more of. Congrats on the launch!
As a fellow maker, I love this! My Dock is usually hidden, so I’ve got my Podenco girl Lotta running around the bottom of my screen instead! 🐕 So Docko really is for everyone.
Sometimes, code doesn’t need to be serious - it can be fun and still feel like a "real" product. It honestly makes me smile every time I see it, and it became a great debugging buddy too 🤓
I am having my Kitty running on my desktop and I love it- especially when start purring while am away :) Thanks @marcelpociot - always amaizing products from your side! <3
I love my little dog. Unfortunately, none of the sounds work for me, for some reason. The cat purrs, but you can't hear the dog. It would be really cool later on if you could pet it, or have it run around on the other screen using the screen extension.
I can also imagine turning off the mouse tracking so it can explore on its own.
Oh, here it is - finally, it’s available (I’ve been watching the progress updates you share on social media.) But also, over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a trend - many apps are now offering small visual customizations for the dock, tray bar, and other elements of the operating system. It feels like a nostalgic return to the 2010s, which makes me feel a bit old.
However, I enjoy these customizations. I just added the Docko to my dock so that I can watch out while I’m working. I suppose soon there will be an explosion of feature requests and more cool additions, but so far, it looks simple and neat, just like it should.
I also see that you decided to go for a minimalist, old-trendy pixel art style. However, I believe a realistic visual will work great as well. Consider it, and good luck with your launch!

Aww, any option to feed them treats and pet them?

@marcelpociot yes, excellent point.
@marcelpociot the dog starts running when I click send to sleep. Is it really excited to go to bed? :P Any option to save pet names after adoption?

Cute one. Inspired by SuperMario? :)

@busmark_w_nika hah - actually this was inspired by the Googly Eyes from @Sindre Sorhus !
I saw him building this and had the idea to build something similar, which is just about bringing fun back to the mac :)

Thank you for your service 🙌
Adorable! Can it bark/purr to tell you you've had enough screen time and it's time to take your pet for a walk?

@siddharthsampath hah the cat actually starts purring when it falls asleep :)

A Shiba Inu (wink-wink) would be awesome in this app!

Such a brilliant idea! It’s like having an adorable pet keeping you company while you work.

Very cute app 🙂
But some bugs.
Pet not going to sleep when i send to it.
It goes beyond the width of the dock in the air.
App not autostart when i set it.
But other than that it's a very fun app 🥹
A small virtual pet brought me a lot of joy. Thanks for creating these little lovely pets.
I’m going to adopt a virtual pet to make my friends envious of me.😂 Congrats on the launch!
This is nice! Maybe when hovering over the pet, the name that pops up should be his/her name instead :)
