Today is Drone Day evidently, Kittyhawk now has DJI GO support in-app --> https://www.producthunt.com/post... FLY ALL THE THINGS

This is targeted perfectly towards the beginner drone consumer hobbyist. There are some great features in here for a selfie drone but it is absolutely not going to get you professional quality imagery and video. Range is quite low compared to the other DJI platforms (since it lacks Lightbridge technology and uses WiFi instead). However, awesome first drone for the newcomers to the technology or those who just want to have a bit of fun. Good or bad, we will be seeing these around... everywhere.

@iansmith I totally agree! I haven't had much of an interest in the drone space but came across this yesterday and I'd love to take it for a spin. It looks extremely accessible and less intimidating than some of the others I've seen.

DJI is getting more impressive with every new iteration. For tech purchases I often follow the strategy explained by Musk himself to buy the 3rd generation product as it's the perfect intersection of good value for money, optimized UX and use of new tech. I exclude product generations before mavic pro, so this spark is 2nd and the 3rd one I will get (probably Mavic v2)

My main interest is: can the Spark livestream to Facebook Live - specifically to brand pages (not just personal profiles)?

DJI may make the best drones, but I really don't trust drones of this size. The second there's a small breeze, they blow straight into someone's face (or wherever the wind is blowing). Plus, they're so small, flying them is a pain in the neck. My first drone was a parrot minidrone (had all these problems), and it really soured my experience with drones.

When will iphones turn into drones? serious question

@alancassinelli Here is a phone case that has a removable drone: https://www.kickstarter.com/proj...

This is really awesome! DJI is making drones a household reality. Imagine the possibilities when combining this with an app like Flo - https://www.producthunt.com/post... Exciting times ahead.

I wonder how it handles windy situations. DJI website says it can withstand 13‑18 mph (20‑28 kph) which is up to 15 knots, but I'm a bit skeptical.

16 min flight time, 2 axis gimbal, 1 mile range, doesn't fold up like the Mavic.

Love the portability of this... hmm - maybe I need a Christmas gift a bit early? ;)

Casey and Marques got their hands on it already , check it out : bit.ly/2qWUq6J

I am waiting for Mavic 2. Spark is not for me.

This drone looks awesome, 499 looks like a deal.

@shawnkirsch Does 16 min flight time impress you? Not me
Shawn Kirsch
@dovbreuer I can't imagine flying it longer than that at once. It's not a replacement for the mavic or the phantom. It's about capturing moments when you can't carry the P4 all day on a hike. I think 16 minutes is plenty. The battery on the P4 is about the size of this one. I call that a win.
