This is really cool but I'm curious what you see as the biggest advantage it has over Apple/Google pay, particularly in the example shown in the video? I tried the demo on your website and I had to wait a moment for the SMS to be sent to me so there appears to be more friction than an Apple pay or tap-to-pay solution?
Ferhat Elmasgunes
Hi @redoisin . Thank you for your comments and also for trying the demo. Could you try the demo a second time? The second time you would not need an sms verification. Sms verification is only required for the first use of the app (for verification of the account). I can assure you Deal is one of the fastest checkout options available in the market. We reviewed almost all of them. We really don't want to compare Deal with Apple Pay & Google Pay. It's a different solution. @giannidalerta said it better than we did, Deal gets the Starbucks mechanism into the hands of any business owner (with a fraction of the cost). That being said, we believe we have a few advantages. No app is necessary for customers to make payments, no onboarding, no signups, no account creation, no passwords. Just scan QR code, confirm payment, done. Deal also supports Apple Pay & Google Pay. Businesses using Deal will be able to accept payments with Apple pay & Google Pay at the same time. No additional integrations necessary. We are adding more payment gateways to Deal as we speak. Businesses using Deal will have their own branded apps which will enable them to connect with your customers with the built-in messaging system (each transaction creates a message at the backend), improve customer experience with better payment and faster checkout solutions. Also, Deal can be customized according to the needs of merchants.

@giannidalerta @ferhat in Ireland/UK I don't see the convenience benefit when paying at the till verses tap and go with your credit card / Apple Pay etc as it is almost ubiquitous here (I understand that is not the case in every market). However, for payment where there is no card reader this is game changing (e.g. charitable donations being sought on a flyer or even street performers getting paid). Best of luck with it.

Hi @redoisin , I wanted to clearly represent the convenience of Deal in comparison to tap & pay solutions. If you compare one QR code with one tap and pay unit at the till, your conclusion is right but what if you multiply the number of QR codes with 10 - 30 - 50 - 100? Deal becomes more and more convenient as the numbers grow. One can multiply the number of QR codes infinitely with ease and without cost but one can not do the same with tap and go devices. A restaurant can put a piece of paper with QR code on to every table, allowing customers to make payments without leaving their table. Deal also allows the use Apple Pay / Google Pay. Additionally as you mentioned, where there is no card reader or a device available, using QR codes is a no brainer. Thanks,
Gianni D'Alerta
It's almost like crypto payments without the crypto. Great idea. Gets the Starbucks mechanism into the hands of any business owner.

Hi @giannidalerta, Thank you for your comments. Honestly, you summarized the whole idea better than we did πŸ˜€

Really like this idea. Unique twist, I like it. Agree with @giannidalerta

Hi @alex_papageorge , thank you!

Great product! Looking at the coffee shop example, when is the amount required to pay added? Is this done by the customer after scanning the barcode?
Ferhat Elmasgunes
Hi @roryjeffries, Thanks for your positive comments πŸ˜€ In the coffee shop example, the customer enters the payment amount after scanning the QR code. Deal allows merchants to create three different kinds of QR codes: 1) Customer has to pay the predefined amount (used for fixed priced products) 2) Customer must set the payment amount (coffee shop table example) 3) Customer may change the payment amount (mostly used for donations) Hope the explanation helps. If you need additional info please check out this link https://deal.io/QRCodePayment or just get in touch with us. Thanks.

@roryjeffries @ferhat How is tipping handled?
Ferhat Elmasgunes
@roryjeffries @aaron_welch Tipping is one of the features on our roadmap, hopefully the feature will be available in our next release in two weeks.

Great concept, I would just like to ask for google app. Does it accept google pay?
Ferhat Elmasgunes
Hi @rogemar_bravo. Thank you for your comments and upvote. Short answer is YES. You can accept Google Pay and Apple Pay. Deal works with Stripe as a payment gateway and Stripe allows the use of Apple Pay and Google Pay. We are also working on other payment gateway integrations. Soon Paypal, Adyen and other payment gateways will also be available within Deal.

Great idea!

Hey Product Hunt! We're super excited to be taking Deal one step further with the launch of our brandable mobile apps and built in wallet functionality. Deal will empower businesses of all sizes to accept payments with QR codes or unique links, connect with customers, improve customer experience and grow their business. Businesses & Merchants will be able to accept payments much like a very famous coffee shop chain using mobile apps for in store payments and loyalty campaigns. Mobile payments using QR codes are much more healthier compared to touchless payment options that most of us are using due to Covid-19 these days. Hopefully Deal will also help combat Covid-19 by transforming the preferred method of payment. Let us know what you think!
