Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
I'm thrilled to introduce you to Depths - a social bookmarking platform for tech enthusiasts, learners, and professionals.
As a fellow tech enthusiast myself, keeping track of the massive amount of relevant tech content out there was a huge pain. We know how overwhelming it can be to stay on top of all the latest trends and developments in the tech world.
That's why we launched Depths - with the goal of creating a community-driven platform for tech knowledge sharing.
With our platform, you can easily curate your own personalised hub of tech resources and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in your field.
Key Features:
🔖 Social bookmarking for people in tech
🌎 Shared and explorable curations

Depths is completely free to use! We want to make tech knowledge sharing accessible to everyone.

@ho_desmond Congrats Desmond, I have been having a great experience with Depths and learning from all the curated resources. Such a great idea to keep updated with the lastest tech news and resources. Good Luck with the official launch.
Love the concept. I think it is interesting in the sense - to read what others think of a website or article without multiple logins. I think Medium.com used to do this for articles but now a lot is hidden behind the paywall.
One recommendation - can we show auto-generated tags on the cards to make it easier to navigate? I can go to AI or Web3 in tabs selection but if I am on Recent or Trending, it would be easier to see/filter by AI/Web3 etc.
@tanaylakhani Sure that would be a great feature! We did tag each resource with technical topics under the hood, but we haven't designed to include that visually on the interface yet.
Congrats on the launch—love making reading a more multi-player game! This sounds like a better experience than the current mix of newsletters I have collecting dust in my email inbox. Curious how you think about your product in the context of newsletters / curated lists?
@christal Thank you for the support! It’s an interesting story on how we come up with this platform. When I was self learning on the Internet, I often found myself bookmarking a lot of resources that was useful during my learning journey. But it is only useful when I have to share it to some friends studying on the same area, or I referenced it back for some of my side projects. For the second use case, there’s already a lot of useful bookmark/productivity SaaS. So we decided to look into the first one and try to unleash the potential values of your bookmarks.
As CAE engineer and self-taught coder, I've tried multitudes of different bookmarking systems.
TL;DR
I now use Depths to do the heavy lifting.
I've always wondered, how can I sort the wheat from the chaff with enormous scattered information in the net?
Depths has the potential to solve this pain points.
Like Metcalfe's Law, v = n^2. The more professionals from diversified profession come onboard, the closer we're in reaching this goal to let education be open-sourced.
Definitely a MUST-HAVE app in your daily driver!
Kudos Depths Team on the PH launch!
@hafeezcae Thank you Hafeez! The Internet has a lot of nodes but the connections between useful contents are sparse. That's why we try to reconstruct a sub graph for technical contents in Depths and make the distribution of information much effective and useful.
@peter_tkw Great, I strongly believe that having professional from the industries curating the content in Depths is a significant differentiator that makes Depths a more valuable resource for users.
Hi all. This is Peter, the co-founder of Depths.
I am a self-taught software engineer. I realised that everyone can teach themselves everything on the Internet. But the problem for new learners is that, if you don't have much experiences, you don't know:
- what resources are best for you
- what you don't know
- what technology you should OR shouldn't learn
You often need to waste a lot of time for the above reasons. And there are some problems regarding the current social platforms or even the Internet for self learners:
- information overload
- can't effectively distinguish click-baits and REAL useful content
So we were thinking, what if you can see what resources a 10 year experienced software engineer are reading daily? What if you can see what resources that a AI industry lead think would be a new trend? What if you can also share your experiences on your expertise and we help matching the like-minded ones to you?
That is the motivation behind Depths. We believe the presence of curators is much more important than just the information itself. We aim to create a space where people can be inspired by each other, and grow every day.
@peter_tkw Totally love the concept you shared " So we were thinking, what if you can see what resources a 10 year experienced software engineer are reading daily? What if you can see what resources that a AI industry lead think would be a new trend? What if you can also share your experiences on your expertise and we help matching the like-minded ones to you?" .... I view Depths as a place for people in Tech or people who are interested in Tech, to meet others specialising in certain areas in tech and create opportunities for collaborating and networking....to learn together the lastest trends and how-tos in tech, and many other possibilities ...
Congratulations on the successful launch of Depths! It's great to see how you're fostering a community for tech enthusiasts to discover and share inspiring articles. To further enhance your product, consider adding these features:
1. Personalized Recommendations: Implement an AI-powered recommendation engine to suggest relevant articles based on users' interests and past interactions.
2. Collaboration Tools: Allow users to create and collaborate on curated collections, fostering a sense of community and knowledge-sharing.
3. Gamification Elements: Introduce badges, points, or leaderboards to encourage active participation and engagement within the platform.
4. Offline Reading: Offer the option to save articles for offline reading, ensuring users can access content even when they're not connected.
5. Social Sharing Integration: Enable seamless sharing of bookmarked articles on various social media platforms to expand the reach of inspiring content.
Would love to connect on Product Hunt and discuss more. Let's continue the conversation there! Congratulations again on the impressive launch!
@realkunalmehta Hi Kunal, thank you so much for the feedback! For 1., right now the ranking of our "Trending" resources is actually calculated by the resources that you have saved, followed, upvoted and clicked. We have an AI system to calculate the content relevance. But of course it is a beta version and we will keep working to improve the recommendation system!
For other features, they are really insightful and can fit into our platform so well. I just connected you on Product Hunt. Feel free to join our Discord server (https://discord.gg/v8j6XBxr) for further discussion! We have a channel for feedback :D
@realkunalmehta@peter_tkw I agree with what Kunai mentioned regarding collaboration tools and networking tools. I am passionate about tech, but not built anything in tech, but would like to. Meeting, networking and collaborating with other people specialising in tech is one reason I like the idea of Depths.
Love the concept of a social bookmark hub for people in tech - I love that everyone gets a profile page where they can showcase their finds. The design looks much slicker and easy to use, awesome product!
@leoho Thanks a lot Leo!
We think curation is a great way to surface inspiring content on the Internet since there's just too much distraction & content everyday. Great to know you like the concept :)
Why jot your own notes and google resources blindlessly when Depths can organize and recommend those good ones?
Congratulations to the launch! Much appreciate the hard work of good team of engineers.
The Chrome Extension is incredibly useful for saving articles that I used for debugging. Sometimes I find a good article on StackOverflow I would just save it with one click and I don't need to search through Google to find it again. Very useful!!!
Depths is an amazing social bookmarking platform. The user experience is fantastic. You will get a tons latest articles and news also. Must be check out 💯💯🤝
Congrats @ho_desmond I appreciate your work & efforts. cause I'm a learner so I don't know how to give complement but ya as I explore you did a great job.
Loving Depths and how easy it allows me to save and share all the resources I found online. I used to keep tabs open on my browser, and Depths made it much easier to navigate resources. What's better is I can even add my own notes and opinions on the shared content, making it so fun and enjoyable to use. Besides, it's also incredibly easy to see what others are sharing and networking while enjoying intellectual exchanges with curators from all around the world. Thanks, @ho_desmond and @peter_tkw, for building such a great platform.
@peter_tkw@billylui Thanks for the kind words Billy! Learning resources on the Internet are underrated and under-utilized if we don't have a better way to explore, resurface and aggregate them. That's why we build Depths! And social element is just something that make the process much more interesting & engaging.
Thank you for being part of the journey, Billy :)
Congratulations on the successful launch guys. Already using this product and absolutely love it.
Special shoutout to Emiko for being an awesome developer advocate.
