Hey Product Hunt Community! 👋
I'm Sharon, one of the makers of Shortcut!
Today, we're launching Shortcut, an AI-powered assistant that lets you work as fast as you think. By transforming voice into action, Shortcut helps you find answers, organize ideas, and create content—all at the speed of natural conversation.
🤔 Why Shortcut?
We spend our days typing and clicking, while our most productive moments happen when we speak—bouncing ideas off colleagues, thinking out loud, or explaining concepts. Yet this natural, fluid way of working vanishes when we face our screens.
We built Shortcut to change that. It brings the speed and ease of conversation to your daily work, letting you navigate tasks as naturally as you'd chat with a colleague.
🎯 What Makes Shortcut Different?
Unlike other voice tools that force you to learn their language, Shortcut is built to match how you naturally think and speak. Whether you're asking questions or dictating content, just speak naturally—Shortcut gets it.
Speed and focus are at our core. While other tools pull you away from your work with lengthy responses and constant context-switching, Shortcut stays with you like a real assistant—delivering quick, precise results while keeping you in your flow. Need an answer? Want to write an email? Shortcut handles it instantly, right where you are. Shortcut integrates with the tools you already use, and is just a keyboard shortcut away.
✨ Work Faster, Think Better:
1. Instant Answers, Zero Search Time
Ask anything, anytime – get immediate, precise responses without breaking your flow.
2. Thoughts to Polished Writing
Transform spoken ideas into perfectly crafted text that captures your exact meaning and tone.
3. Clarity from Chaos
Turn scattered thoughts into structured ideas with an assistant that helps you think clearer and write better.
4. Always There, Never in the Way
Access Shortcut with a simple keystroke, wherever you're working.
💪 Ready to Work at the Speed of Voice?
We built Shortcut because we believe your best ideas shouldn't get lost in translation between thinking and typing. Our powerful AI and intuitive design ensure your thoughts become actions, instantly.
What would you do with the power to work at the speed of voice? Share your thoughts below! 💭
@_sharonyeh_ Fantastic! Being able to chat and share ideas like you would with a colleague or friend makes work feel more natural and efficient. It really can help boost productivity! 👍
@_sharonyeh_ Sounds awesome! 🔥Maybe I will finally organize my ideas, because I'm too much lazy to write them down... But do you support English only? Sometimes I switch between 3 languages while creating content. 🤔
I'm very impressed with Shortcut. I use a lot of AI speech to text tools for my everyday work. The technology ias an important part of my workflow, and I've come to take it for granted. I was keen to give Shortcut a spin, and it's exceeded my expectations. I really like the realtime flow of words in the dictation feature. The assistant is also smart and conversational. Shortcut has already earned its place in the dock on my MacBook. Thank you for a great app. I'm using it right now to dictate this comment!
@gussilber That's awesome! I'm very happy to hear it. Thanks for sharing the details. As you keep using it, we would love to hear if there are particular things you like or dislike, or something you wish was different or would like to add. We are continuously improving the tool and thinking about future possibilities.

@gussilber Thank you so much for this feedback! We're so happy to hear that you've loved using Shortcut so far. Definitely let us know if there are any requests you have – as Ingrid mentioned, this is only the beginning and we want to build what you want!
@zachary_dewitt Maybe not a feature, per se, but my favorite use case is being able to ramble and use Shortcut to make sense of that – whether it's converting my rambling into concise written text, or helping me think through and refine my ideas. That was my personal "wow" moment – I no longer have to think about how to phrase my thoughts before speaking or writing them. I could really just say everything that comes to mind and Shortcut handles the rest!
I just took this for a spin and was really impressed with the fluid nature of the responses. Really excited to see how I can fit this into my workflow coming up.
@johndatserakis So glad to hear that John, I would be interested in hearing how it fits into your workflow. For me the dictation feature is best when I'm feeling stuck or struggling to get started writing something.
I've been waiting on a windows version and was ready to subscribe. Your slides show the windows shortcut key, I got all excited, then I get to your page and it's for Mac only, Windows coming later. I got my hopes up too quickly.
@agent_adridder We appreciate your excitement! The team wanted to see if there was a way we could get you access to a Windows version now vs. later. We've put something together that you can use now if you don't mind a few workarounds and slightly limited functionality. Sign up for the waitlist here: https://vgdsbzd6pe5.typeform.com... and I'll send out an email with instructions soon!
@agent_adridder@_sharonyeh_ The main thing I'm looking for is not another chat GPT voice assistant but a really robust voice text input. I type with my voice more often than with my fingers on my Android device and it is unthinkable that I do not have something for Windows that is equivalent. Not only that, but AI has the potential to reformat and fix typos and stuff right out of the box.
This is a really great tool. As a Content Creator in the tech space, managing a marketing agency - this is going to be extremely helpful for my daily tasks. As a software engineer - kudos. As a busy entrepreneur - thank you.
@filip_grebowski Thank you! We're excited for you to use it and would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and feedback once you've played with it for a bit.

Sounds unreal, I could've used this massively when I was studying...but in actual fact it's probably more useful now in my working life!!
Always preferred calls to emails etc. because the volume of info passed on is always far higher by voice - I'm relieved someone has managed to put this into a product though - You've got my vote & perhaps another user :)
This tool makes it super convenient to talk with the LLM, just leave it open and use a shortcut key, and start talking! Also super useful for transcription - I can just click on the dictation tab and start talking!
I'm a big fan of dictation and every since a newborn has been added, I've doubled down on using it - but it can't always act on your behlaf and it feels limited. Feels like shortcut is what I want to do with apps when using diction, excited to try it out!
@andrew_connorton Why don't you take it for a spin and let me know what you think?
We've built Shortcut to be quick to access with a shortcut so it won't interrupt your workflow, but be a part of it. It's responsive and lets you interrupt it, allowing you to have useful conversations. We’re continuously working on it to ensure it's efficient and provides just the right amount and depth of information without being overwhelming. If you have feedback, I’d love to hear it!

@andrew_connorton Advanced voice mode on ChatGPT very much works like a voice version of their text-based chat – you'll see that it essentially reads out what it would've written in text as a response. This means it usually provides long responses that you typically wouldn't want in a voice format. Shortcut is designed to be voice-first – with that in mind, as Ingrid mentioned, it's built to interact with you how you would naturally speak to someone. Also, Shortcut provides real-time streaming of text as well as a full conversation history as you're speaking to the assistant so you're able to see the output in real-time – voice mode lacks this.
And, this is only the beginning of our product vision – eventually, we want this to be a product that can truly work alongside you and help perform tasks in real-time. You should definitely give it a try and let us know what you think! It's completely free right now :)
