How does Dashlane compare to LastPass, especially after their recent interface redesign (LastPass v4)? It was worth switching a year ago, but is it worth switching now?
Dean Perry
Looks good! How does this compare with 1Password?
@marty
Huge Dashlane fan, have got all my family & friends onto it too. Makes buying things online dangerously fast though... Dashlane staff - is there any plan to implement support for Chrome on iOS? That'd be my #1 request, and secondarily a custom colour picker for credit/debit cards so you could match them perfectly (my cards don't match the preset options)
Alexis Fogel
Hey @marty. You will be happy to hear that we are currently working with Google to add Dashlane to Chrome on iOS. Hopefully this will make it in the next Chrome update. Great suggestion about the color picker for cards, let me check how we can make that work.

Awesome - been a faithful user from almost day one. I was wondering if the new Mac app has solved the memory leak issue ? (or is it the chrome plugin ?)

Just started using Dashlane a week ago. I have no idea how I lived without it! #instantpaidsubscriber

Dashlane is far and away best in class. This update just solidifies my love affair with this product

I am so glad you guys got this update out! Absolutely love Dashlane - premium subscriber here! I only have one thing - the touch Id unlock takes a few seconds as there is a delay to show the dialog that says to unlock with touch Id. Is that something you are looking into?
Alexis Fogel
@chakkaradeep This is a hard issue as it touches decryption of data and is part of what makes your data secure. However, we are working on it and have good leads on how to improve it. Expect improvements on this in Q2 this year.

Huge fan here too, been using Dashlane for years and made quite some people switch. Keep up the good work - I have to say that the Chrome Extension still needs some love compared to LastPass/1Password, but otherwise, that's a kickass product.

I recently switched from LastPass to Dashlane and I'm already back to Lastpass. I found the chrome extension for Dashlane to be completely unusable. It would auto fill random forms on sites, would save stuff like my First and Last Name as the username, and I could find no way to disable specific features such as auto login. Really overall had a terrible experience with the product. I paid up front for 3 years so maybe I'll give this new version a try. However my experience was pretty sub-par a couple weeks ago.

I've been a huge fan of Dashlane and the attention to design details definitely keeps me loving the product. Some areas I see for improvement are 1) Consistently heavy resource consumption by the Chrome plugin on Windows 2) More 2FA options 3) Ability to auto-fill passwords in desktop applications 4) Android Chrome browser auto-fill option.

Thanks @Ton for hunting us. Dashlane 4 is a very special release for us. We launched a crazy number of new features in the last year, so we decided to step back a bit and improve the core application based on users' feedback. We also took this occasion to improve the design a lot to get a high-quality, consistent experience on every platform. I wrote an article getting into more details of the release if you are interested: https://medium.com/@alexisfogel/.... And if you guys have any question I am here to answer them :)

I've switched from LastPass to Dashlane and I am absolutely in love. The design, the ease of use, the features, the speed. It's all spot on. Nice work guys!
Alexis Fogel
@sorinamzu Thank you very much, that means a lot to us.

I have a question, why should we trust Dashlane?
Alexis Fogel
@diego_iglesias That's a good question. The thing is, you don't need too. the data you put in Dashlane is encrypted locally on your devices with the master password you create when you start using Dashlane. That master password is never stored anywhere and never transmitted through the internet. Therefore, there is not way any Dashlane employee (or hacker) could access your data. Here are more details our security: https://www.dashlane.com/security. Hope that covers your question.

I read that @kevinrose is a big fan of Dashlane. For those that switched from 1Paaword, can you tell us how Dashlane is different or better?

I'm a 1Password user myself but whenever someone needs a rocksolid free password manager I usually advise Dashlane. It's a great app. And with version 4 it finally gets the much needed UI overhaul. Besides that it has a feature not yet in 1Password: the automatic password changer. Cool stuff!

Just tried this out and uninstalled Lastpass in 15 minutes. This is hands down the best password manager I've used.

Big fan of dashlane. This release made it even better. Switched from Lastpass about a year ago and I haven't looked back. Great product!

Switched form LastPass to Dashlane last year and loving it.
