@joey_tawadrous I was devastated when Google shut down inbox 💔. Darwin Mail looks great and with a few more features will be a perfect replacement. Congratulations on the launch 🚀 excited to see what this becomes!

Ever since I heart Inbox was shutting down I knew that there would be so many unhappy people, including me.

Question: does Darwin work well with Gmail's "send as" feature? I.e. I've connected multiple email addresses to my Gmail account and can choose which address to send an email from whenever I write one.

Will this product stick around for a while? At least some years? I really miss Inbox reminders, but I am afraid to jump on this just to be discontinued in a year.
@fancsiki I do not plan to close the project down. It's been received wonderfully and I love that the community is already jumping into planning the roadmap with me!

I had grown so used to the interface that it would have been unproductive to switch!

I'm not sure why, but I got a promotional spam email from joeytawadrous@gmail.com about this - if you want us to give you access to our emails for your application why would you send spam from a personal email with no info on how you get our emails (for me, it was my personal one)

@gmail @joey_tawadrous Oh I see now, I subscribed to AppLandr 3 years ago which now redirects to Darwin Mail, I'm pretty sure you can't send out a promotional email when it was acquired for a different service

I'm sorry that I bothered you. I switched from Mailchimp to MailerLite a few years back as Mailchimp was so expensive and I guess I made a mess of something during the export/import of my lists.
I've been sending regular emails though with good open and click rates, so you must have received a bunch! Why didn't you unsubscribe years ago when I moved mail clients?
@gmail @joey_tawadrous Your emails were in my spam folder (as people have been flagging it as spam, as it is sent from a personal email, not a company email), I saw you on here + an email about this in my spam and wondered why I was receiving it.
@gmail @harrystrick Luckily, my emails are rarely marked as spam. I guess you did it a while back :)

Just tested it, I would say this is a beta going in the good direction, but still not ready for real life use. I don't know how to react to this. I would simply say I will be back with my money when it's ready, but then maybe the developer needs the money to complete it. I'll keep an eye on this.
Pros:Finally something to replace Inbox!
Cons:The snoozed and done labels are empty, this is a bug. The scroll is scrolling the view out of the viewport. An overall feeling of beta.
Are the reminders integrated with Google reminders? I use Assistant all the time to create reminders, and one of Inbox's killer features was to pull those in and have them all right there

Thank you. I too use Google calendar quite a lot. To add the reminders I create in DarwinMail to Google calendar would be an amazing lift in productivity.
I personally want this feature and will work on it sooner rather than later.

I really wanted to release sooner however I wanted to build more features to make sure DarwinMail was a product worth trying out 👨💻
So now we have features like dark mode, undo send and custom backgrounds that you can try out 🤓

I'm currently working on the web app. With our Product Hunt release, our being on the front page of Hacker News, and all the suggestions and feedback coming in, I should have enough information to make DarwinMail extremely stable.
After it has achieved this stability, I will add support for more email clients!
